The lack of BC is something that really bugs me a bout the PS4. One of the reasons I like my 60GB PS3 so much is because it has near full BC with PS2/PS1 games. The lack of phsyical BC has not done the Vita any favors thus far but at least it can play PSP games digitally. I for one would be willing to pay up to $100 over base price for a PS4 capable of backward compatibility though I know it probably won't happen.

Depends how much the PS3 costs in the first place.

Paying $50-100 in addition to $400-$500 is reasonable.

Paying $100 in addition to +$500 is ewwwwwww.

no... my ps3 works just fine... and has BC with the PS2... and i never use it. waste of space, energy and money...

no because i don't thnk that i want to play my old ps3 games once more. the last of us could be a game i still want to play when ps4 is already out because it releases so late but that's it.

Yes I would because I recognise that for Sony to release a reasonably priced console for the masses at launch they had to cut down on certain features and that includes B/C. Now for people like myself who have a large digital library over PSN I think it would be very appealing to be able to either purchase a console that comes with B/C or an addon/peripheral which can provide it once installed.

Hopefully Sony will be smart enough to at least provide the add-on option. Having said that though it isn't a deal breaker as I will be getting a PS4 to p[ay PS4 games primarily. And if I need a PS3 fix well my PS3 is working just fine and if it breaks down it is easy to replace and I'm confident Sony will support it for at least the standard 10 year cycle.

As far as what I am willing to pay for B/C I would be willing to pay up to $150 especially if it's built into a premium sku console.
