Forums - Gaming - What are your expectations of a next gen Mass Effect?

With the evolution of the franchise that is Mass Effect, we've seen that it took its signature steps from Kotor, but this time behind a third person shooter style RPG.The trilogy was expansive and set great standards, but with next gen tech coming, the possibilities are even greater for not only the graphics, but effects, animations, areas and more. Here are some of my ideas:

- Larger more expansive areas, no more cooridors like part three. Map development is key to making the world believable and next gen there will be no excuse.

- More enemies and playable partners around. Mass Effect has a thing about having a 6-8 partners in a given game, but we tend to only have a preferential two. My hope for further games is that since with the extra power the battlefields. There needs to be at least five to six of your partners with their own responsive ai there with you next gen on the battlefield.

-Smarter more demanding ai. Enemies need to present a tactical challenge and sometimes switch up their movements. In Uncharted, enemies duck from side to side going from cover to cover. They should take notes from that game. Its just dumb when they run into your bullets. They need to realize they are being hit.

-Interactive environments that have some effect on the current situation, even if the area isn't linear. Sleeping Dogs had this and it came to great use.

- More complex particle effects so more Mass Effect powers can be created and used for different tactical needs. There was very little area damage and in a real world where where people had implants their powers damage would cover much more grown than has been shown.

- Blu Ray will most likely be the next gen standard, so theres no excuse not to have a hefty audio file for deeper conversations.

- Emotion on the characters faces. As shown at the PS4 show, emotion on the next gen consoles can now be shown in a realistic manner bringing more drama to character relationships.

- The melee needs an overhaul so if it comes to CQC, that can be dealt with.

- More areas to travel to in a more expansive universe.

I have a whole lot more to add, but this is just a start. What do you guys want in the next gen mass effects?

Thanks, that helps.

Hopefully they'll get back to the roots of the game. Mass effect was my favorite game until I played me2 and I literally had to force myself to finish it one time. They completely lost the spirit of the first game with the loss of armor sets and weapons customization, not to mention the reduced skill trees.

Brings all of these things back and then deliver on the promise of having your character being imported into the next game and the choices that you make actually matter. ME was supposed to be a story driven game but me2 Just fell apart on story, it's almost like they didn't think me1 was going to do that well and all of a sudden had to slap a story together to make it a trilogy.

I'm hopeful they can get back to basics and do this right, ME is supposed to be an rpg first and a shooter second and they definitely forgot that after the first one.

- Sex scenes with more than two characters.

- Sex scenes with Reapers.

- Sex scenes with other sex scenes interspersed throughout.

So basically you want a Mass Effect that has nothing to do with the publishing of EA. Mass Effects endings need to mean more and be more varied, which is also something the Witcher 2 excelled at even though there werent major cinematics for the ending.

Tis true. I agree whole heartedly with this. Perhaps on the PS4 you can use the track pad and do some serious damage. ;p

A good ending

Bet with gooch_destroyer, he wins if FFX and FFX-2 will be at $40 each for the vita. I win if it dont

It would be great... So good I may consider thinking about it as I make love to my girlfriend later tonight. (hopefully)

I don't really have any expectations. Because now the story of Shepard is and his crew is over it feels as though Mass Effect is done and dusted. The ending was final and citadel dlc was the final goodbye.

A new mass effect game would feel very weird, and frankly I think that they have written themselves into a state where there only hope to continue the story is some type of reboot of alternate timeline...which I would not really like.

I'd say safe bets would be: Combat similiar to Mass Effect 3 but a bit more improved, really good graphics and visuals and probably some decent characters and story. And of course lots of overpriced DLC, microtransactions and multiplayer.
