Though I agree that the DS/3DS sell a lot of casual software, so does every console. Especially within recent years... Kinect, Move, EyeToy, Wii....

It was definitely over priced, but the DS was able to thrive off the likes of Brain Training and Nindendogs. Both games flopped on the 3DS, people were over it.

Move and eyetoy doesnt sell much casual software at all. I would argue that the move titles that do well are just core games anyway. But you are pretty much right.
