What the hell are Nintendo coins?

Coins that are used for Nintendo purposes. You get them from Club Nintendo.

Games you buy, coins you win. Simple as that, been around for 7 years or sth. After play, surveys, it's not dumb not to take advantage of this. You win stuff, eshops games for 3ds, wii and wiiu

Nifty. Always awesome when this kind of thing happens.

Good for Nintendo

@Ninpie

It should be commonplace that Nintendo responds to individual problems like this

It should be common place for really any company.

hahha, just got this message, so that means we get the game basically for free not even using the points :). Now have to wait the 15th to redeem the game, can't wait

No. You get the Wii VC version free. You still have to pay $0.30 for Wii U version.

Is it what the US uses instead of Nintendo points? I'm registered on Club Nintendo UK, never heard of coins, but I got 6000 or so points from registering games.

Yes.

30 cents is worth rebuying for, sure.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

That's actually pretty cool of them to do. Can't wait til next week though, been waiting for more good VC games to play! :o

Super Metroid will be the first promo game I'll actually buy^^

But Hancock chan kirby adventure is well worth the 30 cents and I would have bought f-zero and punch-out if I could
