Ethomaz said its a 30% drop in cost.

Can people even afford PS3 there? Their price is outrageous and Brazil (like all other countries in Latin America) buy illegal copies of everything.

They have almost 200 million citizen I think there are at least 10 million who can afford it.

According to some news reports the Brazilian average wage is about 700€ which isn´t that bad actually. It is more then the people in Croatia get

Not true, the average wage here is a bit higher than that, and in Brazil is nowhere near 700EUR.

Now Brazilians get to experience $599.

I look at it as more to do with where Brazil is going than where it is at now. I read that the average income is rising fast. Brazil is predicted to eventually become a top five world economy. When is uncertain as the world is changing fast. It was suppose to take china until 2050 to surpass the US as predicted in 2008. That prediction has long since been revised.

I think there is a slow down in the Brazilian economy at present but at least it is still growing more than most in the west.

I hope to visit there soon.

i just read average wage was 1850 real in february 2013, no clue if this is true but that would be around 700€

If true, Brazil really is becoming a beast. Do you have some link to official data and whether the figure is gross or net?

Maybe I've been swayed, if a movie is filmed in Brazil you'll see things like the favelas in Fast Five. If it's filmed in Croatia you'll see things like Game of Throne's King's Landing (filmed in Dubrovnik). There aren't things like favelas in Croatia. There are some shanty towns occupied by gypsies but on a much smaller scale, and the situation is no where near as bad as in Serbia.

It's funny how some of the things most iconic to Brazil are poor people.

just opened a link after a google search

http://www.tradingeconomics.com/brazil/wages

it also seems to be always much higher in november and especially december, maybe extra payments and bonuses or whatever.

numbers are from the "Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística, Brazil" and they use "real salaries" whatever that means.

about croatia, i was once there but that is already too long ago to remember and all i remember is that i drank a lot of  "pipi" (which was funny because we say pipi to urine in germany and the colour is almost the same lol)

They could have come to africa: low interest rate, taxe incentives... Our countries are just trying their best to appeal investors.. No luck though.

the market is growing fast, seems to make sense to localize at least the big games. how much do they expect to decrease the ps3 price now? i believe ethomaz said that the 360 was 40% cheaper then right?

and hey, always good to see when you open a thread about playstation, at least it's nothing negative then

Going down from (I believe current price) R$1999/$999.25 to R$1,099/$549.36, so quite a lot. :)

No, the current price here in Brasil is R$1399 and it will be reduced to R$1099.

But it is really easy to find at "grey market" for R$800~850.

The name comes from Pippi Longstocking, which you should know, lol. Impossible to find these days.
