Oh, try then. I could surprise you with the huge amount of japanese-exclusive 360 games. =P I think you ignore the amount of 360 games that are out there, hidden in the Eastern market.

LOL at the last part, I was thinking the same thing.
There are 2 problems with this list, first many of the games are not 360 exclusive, and 20 of them are ports of PC games (e.g. Monster Hunter Frontier). Time Leap for instance is available on PS3 (timed exclusive on 360). Secondly, most of these games sold really poorly, and got only average scores in Japan.
So if you ignore games that aren't exclusive, then PS3 and 360 have about the same number of Japan only exclusives (about 30 each). However the big discrepency is that Japanese games on the PS3 often get localized in North America/Europe, where Japanese games on the 360 do not. There are only a handful of Japanese developed exclusives which were localized on the 360, but over 2 dozen localized Japanese games on the PS3.
Also, this list is mostly shovelware. Lost Odyssey and Tales of Vesperia made much larger of an impact then all these games combined. Were talking about new IP's to get excided about, so they have to be good games!

It doesn't *have* to focus on the japanese market though, the 3rd party developers litterally go all out on the console, just as they do with nintendo, and in some way do with the 360 (just to a much lesser degree), the point being that sony do support their native country despite it being the smallest market, and many of the 3rd party developers that release in japan only receive assistnce from, either through code and tools support, or financially (basically loaning out devkits rather than selling them to the 3rd parties).
While it's the smallest market of the three, it clearly does matter in the wide shot because the number of systems being sold there compared to the 360 is largely the reason why the gap between the two has narrowed to the extent at which it has.

Eh, we're going in circles. I'm just pointing out Sony clearly has more interest in growing in the west than the east. Which is why I find it kinda silly when people mock the 360 for its poor sales in Japan. The west is most desired and that's where the 360 has had even greater success than the PS3.

Sony supports the Japanese market much more then MS and Nintendo combined. Microsoft only published 9 Japanese games on the 360 (Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Every Party, Monster Hunter Frontier, Ninty Nine Nights 1 & 2, Ninja Blade, Ninja Gaiden 2, and Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom), and of those 3 aren't even exclusive (Ninja Gaiden 2, Monster Hunter Frontier, and Ninja Blade).
Sony has published 13, and developed 11 Japanese exclusives (Genji, The Eye of Judgement, Folklore, Everybody's Golf, Gran Turismo 5, Gtran Turismo 5 Prologue, Siren: Blood Curse, White Knight Chronicles 1 & 2, Ape Escape, Ico Collection, Tokyo Jungle, and Puppeteer) Plus Until Dawn and the Last Guardian are also Sony developed TBA PS3 exclusives. Sony has developed more Japanese games then MS has published.
So
.
Plus even without Sony developing the most Japanese games of the Big 3, they get the most exclusive Japanese support. I will admit Ms did a great job this gen, securing so many exclusive JRPG's like Infinite Undiscovery, but they basically stopped in 2009 and abandoned the Japanese market. Sony at least has managed to be consistant, and because of that they have caught up.
----
Anyway, you guy are arguing if MS gives a shit about Japan or not, they do, but how many large scale Japanese exclusives does the 360 have? Not many. Tales of Vesperia is available on PS3 in Japan, so we can't count that here. So the only AAA Japanese exclusive 360 really has is Lost Odyssey, but keep in mind the 360 does have a large pile of good Japanese games like Idolmaster (8/10 in Japan), DeathSmiles, Infinite Undiscovery etc.
360 didn't get as many AAA Japanese games as Sony developed, but they did a good job. It's silly to compare MS to Sony here, but you have to give them kudos for effort. Maybe one day they will either purchase Mistwalker, or create their own Japanese development studio.
Hopefully next gen we will see increased Japanese support, and even if we don't, some of the MS exclusive Japanese games are real gems. I mean Tales of Vesperia and Shenmue 2 (XB) are exclusive to MS outside of Japan, and Lost Odyssey, Panzer Dragoon Orta, and Infinite Undiscovry are great games.
So is MS relevant when talking about Japanese games? Yes, but if you're interested in XB consoles for Japanese support specifically, it makes a lot of sense to get the console at the end of the generation for cheap, since there are so few localized gems.

Back to the OP though, we can't be excited about new IP's by Microsoft because half of the time they turn out to be only passable. (e.g. Ninty Nine Nights, Perfect Dark Zero, Banjo Kazooie, Kinect Adventures, etc).
