Forums - Nintendo - Getting into Ace Attorney

Been wanting to start this series but questioning at how I should go about this.

For the first three games should I stick to thier Wiiware or DS ports?  Or should I stick with the GBA originals?

And is AA Investigations: Miles Edgeworth looking into?  Especially since it looks like we'll never get the sequel overseas?

I would recommend WiiWare, since the third DS game can be hard to find.

DS games all the way. The WiiWare version were poor in my opinion, plus the Extra chapter of the first game was sold separately in the WiiWare (just like the GBA version).

You should look into all the games in the saga. The first three Ace Attorneys, Apollo Justice, Investigations and now Ace Attorney 5 and Layton Vs Phoenix Wright.

This saga of games is a trip you'll never forget =P

Dear god, DO NOT GET THE HORRIBLE WII PORTS.

Capcom has recently started reprinting AA so they're pretty cheap on Amazon. If you have a iOS or Android device you may want to hold on since the HD ports are apparently coming (you never know with Capcom).

Investigations is a good game on it's own. Also, you should definitely look into Ghost Trick (also available on iOS).

It's funny, years back this series actually convinced one of my housemate/friend in university to go to law school.

Go with the DS games if you can.

Reprinting of the GBA or DS ports?

I thought the GBA versions never left Japan. Well, at least they were never released in Europe.

But considering the age of the GBA, the other guy certainly meant reprints of the DS versions.

Okie dokie.

Go with the DS ports
First the Phoenix Wright Trilogy
Then both Apollo Justice or Miles Edgeworth (doesn't matter which order) - both are worth playing

Games can and should tell stories and share ideas through their mechanics. This is the intrinsic element of the medium and this is how experiences should be crafted in video games. No company does this as well as Nintendo and their echoes from the past.
