I think at the worst this would act as a sort of "online pass" blocking content on the disc if you buy used, with the option to unlock the full game. It would essentially turn used games into no more than demos. This would actually be a good idea as it would lower the price of used games so people would be able to try more games. 

The irony is here. When the PS4 rumors were going round then "rumors like this are stupid" and it could be turned into a "good idea". Now youre saying the hate on Microsoft is completely deserved because of rumors.

This is different. I initially had doubt of the rumors since they are obviously very anti-consumer just like anyone else would. But these Xbox rumors keep getting repeated over and over and over again and by different sources and websites. There has to be some truth to them or these things have at least been considered by Microsoft. Hopefully all these negativity is being noticed by Microsoft.

Nope. PS4 or Xbox 720. Any anti-consumer console wouldn't be getting my support and I certainly wouldn't be defending it. 

Gonig back to the comment Carl dug up, Sony had patents like these before. We all know that most patents never get used in consumer products. Most are just there to prevent the competition from using it.

Yet there you are in another post defending an anti-consumer move on a Sony console.

And not sure what you mean by "if you don't like me" and all that other stuff. The thread is about extreme negativity, someone else pointed out how you are part of that problem. So its actually part of the discussion. Has nothing to do with "liking you" or not. I don't even know you. Don't make it personal.

I am their customer. I bought the Xbox and the Xbox 360 and i am extremely pissed off at Microsoft for treating their customers like crap.

Microsoft gave up on the hardcore during the last couple of years. They showed us the middle finger once they already had our hardware money and went on to make terrible Kinect games aimed at the average consumer. On top of this Xbox live online play remains a paid service that isnt and never was worth the price and to top it off their hardware, in case the 360 became faultier than ever. They got no games, they got no service and they got no hardware and above all they spit on our faces and think they can fools us again.
Lets also, not forget how they ruined Rare, a quality studio and proceeded to ignore all their IP's. Why did they even bother buying them?!


So yes, i think negativity is justified and Microsoft might get whats coming to them. They became arrogant, just like every gen winner tends to be. I look forward to seeing them fail next gen and learning with their mistakes. It seems to have worked with Sony. Its Microsofts turn.


I agree with this as I am pretty much in the same boat. The above is why I (and some others) are more likely to believe this rumour when it is about the next Xbox rather than the competition. However it still seems very unlikely the rumour is true.

However, why does this thread exist? Surely this has been discussed to death by now, there is no point rehashing the rumour. Everyone hates the rumour, some pretend not to out of excessive loyalty, some use it to bash Microsoft out of excessive loyalty. Too little is known to get anymore out of this discussion.

The problem is that its just on the internet. There has been a long standing history of xbox hate on forums, its only gotten worse over the years due to piss poor moderation.

There are a lot of people looking forward to seeing what MS is going to bring to the table.

PS4 realized this, that's why the RAM increase IMO. But yes, it is a negative to have your competitor with near identical hardware.

No I don't own a projector. What is this, the 1980s?

Going to ask me if I own a pull down screen too?

Sony has already stated the used games policy is not system bound. But MS could say the same - we don't know yet.
