It's terrible to have similar hardware to the PS4?  Hey, You said it.... Not me. 

It is a negative, because it doesn't differentiate itself at the core to its competition. 

So it's a negative for the PS4 too then?

PS4 realized this, that's why the RAM increase IMO. But yes, it is a negative to have your competitor with near identical hardware.
