That's a half-positive. You do know DVR tech is expensive right? It usually comes with a monthly subscription fee.

You can't blame people for focusing on the negative more than the positive. That's just how the media in general works. There's no conspiracy against Microsoft if that's what some of you think. Quoting a mod does not make you more credible :)

Also, this quote explain why there is a lot of hate, not why you keep arguing with people who  choose to put more weight on positive rumors or do not take the negative rumors as seriously as you are. And honnestly, only people who are actually not interrested in MS's next console seem to be that one sided.

A mod posted that, no it doesn't make me any more credible but I dont' need to be. I'm not claiming to have any inside sources or work for any company.

The quote I posted proves this thread wrong. The negativity isn't irrational, it isn't unfounded. There are reasons for it. These are rumors and most people know that. That doesn't  give anyone the right to brush these rumors off as fiction and bash people who think these rumors might turn out to be true. An intelligent, well thought-out response is all it takes to counter the negativity.

Being comparable to the PS4 is a negative just as the PS4 being comparable to the next xbox is and only for that purpose. 

The hardware isn't a negative, but the fact that the two seem to be damn near identical based on rumors IS a negative.

I want diversification in the market, not 2 units which are practically the same.

I can only agree about the "inteligent, well thought-out response".

But I still do not find it any rationnal to hate the next Xbox based only on speculations/rumors.

Yes, it’s a troll parrot frenzy! The amount of unbridled wrath is crazy!  A few people write some negative things, then many of their fans repeat the same rumors, over and over, and over again.  It's really the same few complains, just repeated – like a parrot.

I think much of it as so much pent up wrath that the PS3 lost so much market share over the PS2.  This is preemptive strike to attempt to keep that from happening all over again.  I think they fear the PS4’s memory latency will really be, yet another, crippling issue (much as the cell was an experiment that didn’t work very well.)  And for around the same price, the new Xbox will have similar tech + Kinect 2.0, and keep many loyal fans, and the big fear - attract new ones.

Fortunately, Microsoft is a big enough company they can handle some malevolent and unsubstantiated attacks.  Smaller companies can be ruined by such misdirection.

And really I think it’s only a few people online.  My PS3 lovin’ friends hardly know about a new console coming out from Sony later this year.  I think the General Public, even less. 

TL/DR:  Yes, because they are afraid the Xbox will continue to gain market share.

 



 

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Yes and there you have your reason last time Xbox was no real competitor for playstation the PS1 and PS2 was so extremly successful and the playstation brand seem to be untouchable the playsation fanboys took the Xbox not serious, the Psfanboys saw the Xbox so less as a serious competitor that they not even made hate blogs.

This time it is different Microsoft was the big winner of the last Gen.  and Sony had a big downfall, the playstation fans fear the Xbox now, Xbox is not the laughable joke it was at the end of Xbox1 it is a serious competitor to playstation  and this is the reason why the playsationfangirls poop their pants now because of their fear they make 10000000s of hate blogs.

There probably is a vocal minority that thinks that way. But I think there are a lot more people that are genuinly worried about the direction their hobby is going in. I don't bother as much with pc gaming anymore for exactly the same reasons people are now afraid of will be coming to consoles.

Hopefully all the negativity will scare the big game companies a bit so not to push always online and blocking used games. Both Sony and MS are pretty much on the fence and are leaving the door open to 3rd parties to open pandora's box. Keeping quiet will only get us more Diablo 3 and Sim City fiascos.

I can also understand how some people feel let down by all the extras being tagged on. If you're just interested in the games then adding DVR functionality, Kinect 2.0, Ps Eye 2.0 only leaves less funds going to the gaming hardware.

I see a subscription fee as a negative. If it makes you feel any better, the Gaikai features on the PS4 would also be half-positives. Great features but would most likely require a subscription fee.(plus a fast internet connection)

This seems to happen every generation, and a lot on gaming sites. So i wouldn't worry too much about it... lets take a quick look back in time to some of the best hits of the last few years.. in no particular order:

1. Wii- Kiddy graphics/motion control is a fad
2. PS3 - has no games.
3. Xbox - RROD
4. Wii - has no games
5. Xbox - Our games sell more than your Sony games.
6. PS3 - Exclusives are better than your exclusives (I agree with this though ;)
7. Xbox - PS3 games are worse than our games
8. Many - Your controller is crap
9. Xbox - You dont have voice chat PS3
10. Ps3 - Xbox you have to pay for online
11. Xbox - Our online is better than yours even though we pay for it.
11. Wii has no games.
12. Move is crap/fad
13. Sony copy Nintendo
14. Kinect can do everything
15. Kinect can do nothing,

etc etc etc

And so it goes on and on.

At the moment Nintendo are the current whipping boy, MS is the future whipping boy.. then it will be the turn of Sony again. So don't worry about it.
