Quite.  I say that just marks the start of a new generation.

People need to realize there is an overlap.

Ha, I just made a comment in the other thread to the same poster that said "I'm glad you know what consoles were first in their respected generation. However, the question is asking when the generation ends"

Sorry, call me what you will but when a new gen starts why do people still care about the last? Oh because they don't care.

Okay, tell that to the 60-70mil who bought Ps2's for the last 7 years. Afterall, when the 360 came out in 2005 the Ps2 only had about 100mil sales and is now at 160mil

So PS3, Wii and Xbox 360 are suddenly irrelevant just because the Wii U is out and the PS4 and Next Xbox are around the corner? Yeah sure! If you saw the support they are still getting, then you would realise how wrong you are. The last of us, GTA V, Assassin's Creed 4, Watch dogs, Metal Gear Solid V, Final Fantasy are just to name a few of the amazing games for current gen consoles. So, no me and millions of gamers around the world do care about the current gen. And to add to that, people have nostalgia. So, people will always care about the older consoles and i'm among them. There's no reason to just throw them away! 

Only reason they kept the PS2 was going for extra money during the PS3. I believe someone can tell if the PS3 is making profit? If so they will keep making them like the PS2. Now answer me this If the PS3 surpasses the Wii while "next gen" systems are out and the Wii and 360 have been discontinued, Does it win 7th gen?

You contradict yourself. If people didn't care about systems once the next generation starts selling then the Ps2 would possibly be able to make money because no one would care about it

I see you can measure a system win by: most profit, or most units sold, if we went by profit the Gamecube won 6th gen, but if units then the PS2 won so there is a difference. Depends on what suits your opinions.
