Forums - Gaming Discussion - Is E3 really necessary in our day and age for the big 3?

When your console is struggling and you need to get exposure to as many people as possible? Show them that you have the games that they expect of you. Then yes absolutely. The Nintendo Directs are great but they aren't truly exposed to a new audience since only people with Wii U's would be interested in them

By this logic, then only people who own Wii U's would be interested in watching Nintendo's E3 conference. They would still need to tune it at a specific time on a specific day. Either that, or catch the headlines and articles later. So, how is doing it through Nintendo Direct any worse?

It's not necessary the same way christmass is not necessary? We don't HAVE to wait for the 25th of December to give all our gifts, we could do it any other day of the year instead. But we still do it cause of tradition and meaning.

The big3 does'nt HAVE to wait for E3 to announce their games. They could do it any other day of the year and still receive the attention they want. They just do it... because... it's part of the fun of E3.

Nintendo is being the butt hurt kid who isn't popular right now, and instead of embracing an opportunity to popularize itself against its competition it's going off to the corner to speak to the wall.

Grow up, Nintendo.

Yeah, okay. Cool.

OT: They still have some type of relevance seeing as how all the gaming journalists watch them and write about them. But if the Big Three get these journalists to watch their seperate non-E3 conferences and write about them, then E3 will go into the history books.

The gaming literally writes about anything. ANYTHING. Just look at the coverage leading up to E3. IGN has already done like 4 different articles, a video and an upcoming podcast about Nintendo opting for Nintendo Direct's over an E3 presser. But you actually have people who still think media sites won't cover the ACTUAL Nintendo Directs? LOL.
