Forums - Nintendo - More Nintendo Directs between now and E3, says NoA

I think they focused on the 3DS so much recently in order to clear space for future Wii U announcements. I don't see them pulling much more out of the 3DS hat aside from new videos and release dates. I suppose they could drop a Metroid bomb on us in one of the Pre-E3/E3 directs.

It would be nice to get a Wii U direct in the next couple weeks (next week???) to talk about W101 since it is still officially a Q2 game, Wii Fit U was classified in Australia in January I believe....so they are just holding on to it so it doesn't die. I could see them releasing it as a "stay in shape this summer with Wii Fit U!" thing. Wii U Party could probably come out at any time, probably more summer filler until Pikmin.

We need one focussing on WiiU NOW! Or tomorow! To wipe off that terrible taste they left in our mouth for not having a E3 press conference as soon as possible.

People are so confused. They are still going to e3, and still saving their announcements for e3. They just aren't doing it in a big hall with their corporate partners and investors there. They won't have sales and financials being talked about. They will have seperate events for different topics.

This! That's exactly what they said, but now everybody thinks they are not having conference... I'm just really excited to see this year's E3!

They are having two small closed events instead of a large-scale presentation actually at E3, that aren't for the home audience.  Everyone at home gets Nintendo Directs instead, which is happening around the same time but isn't coming from E3.

Work on the reading comprehension, that isn't what they said.

It is exactly what they said.

First, we decided not to host a large-scale presentation targeted at everyone in the international audience where we announce new information as we did in the past.
Instead, at the E3 show this year, we are planning to host a few smaller events that are specifically focused on our software lineup for the U.S. market. There will be one closed event for American distributors, and we will hold another closed hands-on experience event, for mainly the Western gaming media. Also, I did not speak at last year’s presentation, and I am not planning to speak at these events at the E3 show this year either. Apart from these exclusive events for visitors, we are continuing to investigate ways to deliver information about our games directly to our home audience around the time of E3. We will share more information about them once they have officially been decided.
During the E3 period, we will utilize our direct communication tools, such as Nintendo Direct, to deliver information to our Japanese audience, including those who are at this financial briefing, mainly focusing on the software that we are going to launch in Japan, and we will take the same approach outside Japan for the overseas fans as well.

Better be weekly starting next week. Or at least every other week. All on Wii U focusing on games, games, and games.

If they do a Direct every other week, it will be about a single game each time.

...I think I would actually be okay with that.

If it is a nintendo Wii U game yeah!  Not if itis like third party game that is on all consoles...  >_>..

2 or 3 days before the actual event counts as "between now and E3?

No E3 conference means that as an european, I probably don't have to listen to Reggie ever again. I am OK with this. More Satoru time.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

yes. actually, last year nintendo said wii u would have more information revealed before E3. the information came the day before E3 at a nintendo direct.

You know what, the more that I think about it, the more I see this as a potentially good thing.

Imagine if, let's say similar to Japan, we get small directs focusing on individual games showing gameplay and not just a random trailer. And build up small amounts of hype for each major known upcoming game.

I mean instead of daily smash bros dojo website, how about weekly Dojo directs during the weekend? Around a 10 min showing of X's general story and world and so on.

Of course saving some big-sized directs for announcements and such as Retro's game and so forth, done in the current Nintendo Direct format. The problem is that we don't know how well this affects the already non-Nintendo people.

Ooh, I hope SmashDojo returns for SSBU. You wouldn't believe just HOW hyped I was for SSBB due to SmashDojo. It made me import SSBB from the states with a freeloader the day SSBB released since I couldn't bear waiting another two months for the game^^

Worth.every.single.cent (and as an added bonus effect I got into homebrew thanks to NTSC SSBB XD)
