Microsoft’s May event is primed to show off a ‘new generation’ Xbox but analyst Michael Pachter believes we’ll get an event similar to Sony’s, but we will get to see the console this time.

Microsoft’s ‘new generation’ Xbox is only a few weeks from its reveal, but what can we really expect to see at the May 21st event?

Sony’s PS4 reveal certainly laid down the gauntlet for the next-gen consoles, but with so many criticizing the lack of an actual machine getting shown, should we expect Microsoft to pull more out of the bag?

Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter isn’t quite so optimistic in terms of what software Microsoft will be willing to show off at the event, but he does think we’ll see the console itself.

In fact, he believes we’ll get a next-gen Xbox reveal that’s pretty much the same as what we saw at Sony’s PS4 event, just with Microsoft’s new machine at the forefront.

“I’m sure we will get the same thing we got at the Sony event, but we’ll probably see an actual box at this one,” explained Pachter.

“I also expect that there will be at least one woman involved in the presentation ” joked Pachter in reference to the complete lack of woman at Sony’s PS4 event.

Microsoft’s event is scheduled for May 21st at 6pm GMT and you’ll be able to stream the event live over Xbox Live.

I can't believe people still pay attention to this guy.

I agree we will hear similar things but we will also hear new and suprising things from Microsofts event.

Pachter is a joke.

the pachter guy is a jeanius.

yes i know its misphelled on purposs.

So no Start button on the controller either? T_T

He's probably right, the next gen Xbox will be upgraded version of ideas already shown just like the PS4 was.

I don't think it will have a touch screen in the main controller, but I am betting 'LookingGlass' will be a big feature, built in Kinetic, along with more social network integration for a new type of Xbox Live serivce, along with improved graphics and sequels to existing franchises to usher the console into a 2014 release.

I guess that means that the Xbox event will be the opposite of the Sony event. They will show the console and no games, instead of games and no console.

If it is the same as Sony conference, it will be good.

I think MS will surprise us more than Sony did. Sony's conference was good, but expected.

what a genius, he believes we will see the console this time when major nelson tweeted after the ps4 conference that he wondered why we couldn't see the console!
