That was when "re-playability" meant beating the game faster while getting more secrets.

Moment FPS starting doing what Quake did, and had 3D aiming and so on, they lost mapping features in the game, and the result was a dumbing down of maps so people wouldn't get lost, and then get frustrated, quit and blame the game for sucking.
It's funny because it's true.. Really puts into perspective as to how drastically gaming has been in decline. Games have essentially gotten to be worse quality, simpler, and stupider.

But... but... they provide a more engrossing movie-like experience, and use REAL voice actors, and hire writers to produce top notch scripts, don't they? And they have more accessible. So accessible in fact, there is NO REASON why grandma can't enjoy the latest Call of Duty. And we MUST make it so that people can actually SEE the entire game through. After all, product placement MUST be seen, and we MUST have people get attached to whatever lead character is doing.
Yep, I just want QTE game filled with cut scenes. Talk about hardcore action! More hardcore than Dragon's Lair.

It's sad to see the many ways in which gaming has declined over the years. There's been improvements too, but it's two steps forward, two steps back.
This image reminds me that annoying video where Fi tells Link that item stores are to buy items...
