Forums - Sony Discussion - Gran Turismo 6 on PS3, confirmed by an Italian dealer

I don't mind it releasing on PS3. I do hope the release date is no where near the PS4's launch, though. DriveClub needs to grow and expand.

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

This seems like a poor decision. GT6 should be on PS4 next Christmas. A PS3 release of GT means that the PS4 version is probably at least 3 years away. A port would be no good either, it needs to be exclusive to move systems.

- Gamefreak announces it is for the DS

- Fans go crazy and throw fits. It should have been for the 3DS

- Pokémon Black / White Version sells 6.50m copies world wide

- Fans....Well maybe it was smart releasing a game that has a 100m install base

- Fans go crazy. OMG Pokemon X/Y....3DS XD

Same could be said about GT. PS3 has a bigger install base. I predict it selling less than GT5 though. It will also stop GT5 from getting to 10m unless sony bundles it. When PS4 has a bigger install base then GT seems like a good idea for the PS4.

I understand the complaints and all but it is smart to be safe about certain situations and this may be one. Not everybody is going to be an early adopter so might as well release it on the console with a bigger install base. My opinion is that the sweet spot is the 3rd year for consoles. In fact i could probably actually prove that with data.

Interesting.  You think a PS4 GT could take less time than they traditionally do like the next Pokemon did?  I could see them getting it out by 2015 but not earlier.

Project Cars on the Wii U. The definitive racing game. When Gran Turismo 7 ships for the PS4 in 2020, it will be too late.

I little off and nothing to do with Wii U but the PC version of Project Cars is showing some nice progress... I expected they can release it before 2015 lol and that at least run at 60fps for PC (confirmed), PS4 and Nextbox.

It wouldn't be out of the norm for GT7 to be released the 3rd or 4th year for the PS4.  As I said before the 3rd year is the sweet spot.  Early games tend to have a good attach ratio which is why it is better to release new Ip's than sequels.  Early adopter will buy a new console as long is there is some good games, it doesnt need to be sequels.  The sequels like Halo and gran turismo will sell more in the 3rd year than they would have in the first year.  This also makes the longevity of the console.

Just to note, Im saying the 3rd or 4th year so 2016/2017

Yeap but his point it valid... GT4 was released in 2006 (late 2005 in Japan) just when the PS3 was about to be launched.

Not to sound as if I am trolling, because I love Gran Turismo, but I would personally rather they spend as much time on a next gen GT as possible and not bother with a GT6 on current gen. I don't want a repeat of GT5 where only a small portion of the game got real next gen treatment and the rest was just higher res assets from the previous gen. I want a 100% next gen GT game, even if it takes 3-4 years into PS4's lifetime.

GT6 + PS3 price cut = me getting that console to play it AND Tales of Xillia AND FF Versus XIII
