| Suke said: thought these may be really cheesy ads, but I'm not going to join the bandwagon and say the Wii U sucks just because these people like it. People need to realize that the hardcore audience is nothing but an small fracture of the gaming industry same as casual. The hardcore audience doesn't hold the industry, its a massive consumers of audience that hold the industry up. What's wrong with trying to plead a numerous amount of different gamers. The only console that perfectly caught the eye of both casual and hardcore was the Xbox360. |
i didnt read the entire thread so i cant say nobody said the WiiU sucks. but from what i read the people didnt say the WiiU sucks they said the commercials suck, which they really do. ohh and the only console that perfectly cought the eye of both the casuals and hardcore was the PS2. not the 360

i kinda understand the faceplam but these aren't targeted to gamers. They are targeted to the masses who don't know what the wii u is.

No I was going by comments from other forms. These ads suck yes, but I'm not going a bit meanspirited over it

Here a little quote I want for those to keep memorize in your head for this coming next gen. By: Suke |
Well they address that it's a new system - not a Wii peripherial.
That you need to play it to 'get' it.
That it has better graphics (but are showing NSMBU which really doesn't show it?!?)
That it's a system the family can play together.
That kids need video games for healthy development... wait, what? Whatever Nintendo...
So the marketing team is getting out the message we here have all been saying they need to get out, but it's simply not terribly convincing. As someone who never played on consoles before Wii, this is aimed more at me than most here, but I have a Wii. I have NSMB on Wii. I have Mario Kart (which I would assume is what they were playing if I didn't know better). I'm not really seeing the graphical improvement here and the tablet thingy is still... WTF? It goes against everything Wii was to casuals without a word of why I want such a thing. "It makes it easier" Really? Easier than swinging my arms? How?
Not to seem too negative. I see what they are trying to do and I think they are by and large doing it, so the messaging is 100% clearer than the holiday ads. The ads do seem forced, and just not as fun as Wii was but warm and welcoming. The problem is more with the WiiU. As they say, you have to try it to get it.
Personally, I've tried it multiple times. I still don't get the gamepad. But I hope this message sells, I really do. At least they are doing something to try to kickstart some sales.
O.o.
I see we have a lot of marketing wizards in this thread (IMO).
Face it. Those ads are great for what they are: targeted at families!
It's not like Nintendo is a family-friendly company. O, right :D
In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.
These ads are just like listening to Reggie: meaningless market-speak that doesn't mean or convey anything. Every word uttered sounds false, false, false. Nintendo is becoming a parody of themselves. It is so sad to see a company that I've followed for the better part of my life flush themselves down the toilet.
They completely OWNED the fastest-growing market in video game history. And they just threw it away. And now they aren't even trying to get them back.
