but from hardcore gamers perspective...
Still amazes me how much Kinect saved the xbox. Year 5 - 6 is quite remarkable really.
Yup, there was no comeback, just PS3 having Japan crawl and scrape their way up every year to close the gap.

Yeah that is understandable...but that is like saying the 360 only had the lead thanks to Ameirca...and besides the PS3 also had Europe and Others as well...
My thing is this argument or way of thinking was considered silly BEFORE the PS3 was about to pass the 360(Not yours but the linging the lauches up) and was called a PS3 "fanboy"(another silly term smh) way of making excuses for the PS3 doing so "HORRIBLE". But right now it is like that never happened or people have forgot how they also down played this argument when it was not in their favor. Not saying the OP is one of those people but there are a lot of them who did this.
The PS3 was and STILL is a financial nightmare for Sony. But it is finally gaining on market share, the price is not bleeding them money anymore and they are doing fine as far as games go. And tot op if off they have been a pretty consistent first for a few years now, so they are doing pretty good witht he PS3 for the time being. None the less interesting thread...
The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

I can only imagine what 360 would have sold if MS was as aggressive on price as Sony was this gen.
| Viktor said: Some people seem to confuse past statements. PS3 back then was compared to PS2 because it sold far less than its predecessor, that´s why people said it underperformed. What did PS2 sell in 6-7 years? 130m-140m? Compare it to todays PS3 userbase (6-7 years = 75m) and you understand what the topic actually was about. |
PS2 sold around 103 mn in 6 years whereas PS3 stands at 75 mn. This puts the console close to 25 million sales behind it's predecessor. It definitely hasn't underperformed concerning the competition it faced from other consoles this gen. Not to mention PS3's current consistency as the no.2 selling video game console(1st if excluding handhelds). The peak towards end of 2009 and the console's subsequent recovery from declining sales is what the OP deliberately fails to signify with the topic but then the issue of not surpassing 360 this far is being mixed here. Isn't the OP trying to confuse the people here?
So the comeback has been made. Let's be clear on that and leave the sales surpassing thing as a separate subject.

Just look at the OP; it's clear that PS3 has done very well compared to X360 - even from the start. Aligning both consoles this becomes VERY apparent.
