It is in East Texas I can tell you that much.

I did live in east Texas for around 5 years. Now that I think about it, is it possible that when I talked to someone about "Coke," we weren't even speaking about the same drink? What a thought...

Well the popvssoda website showed that Colorado has gotten more green, so I guess it isn't as strange to say soda anymore. |
What's wrong with calling it pop? I think you're the weirdo.
Actually though I think we just randomly say one or the other. Sometimes I hear people say pop, sometimes the same people say soda. It's like they are two words for the same thing!

Agreed.
Calling it anything but soda is doing it wrong.

I think the reason for that is because the original name was Soda Pop a long time ago. Eventually people just started calling it one or the other. This is based purley on speculation though.

Actually i believe the original names were Phosphate Soda and Soda Water.
Where did the Pop come from? I think it's not that hard to understand. What happens when you pour carbonated soda? A lot of bubbles form. Which pop... pretty loudly and noticeably.
