Well the popvssoda website showed that Colorado has gotten more green, so I guess it isn't as strange to say soda anymore.

Actually though I think we just randomly say one or the other. Sometimes I hear people say pop, sometimes the same people say soda. It's like they are two words for the same thing!

I think the reason for that is because the original name was Soda Pop a long time ago. Eventually people just started calling it one or the other. This is based purley on speculation though.
