Yeah I don't really buy that, why would they need to work on Zelda, Metroid needed a change into 3D, Zelda already made the transition

Well maybe Nintendo saw prtomise in Raven Blade but it would be a shame if Nintendo forced Retro to do spinoffs when they could do so much more.

 I think Retro would make a more mature Zelda game. Maybe Nintendo feels the series can be pushed into that direction.

Actually, I think this could be really interesting. A non-canon Zelda universe game, without the typical restrictions that keep a Zelda game a "Zelda game" because it's a spinoff. Might breathe new life into the series, stand on its own as a solid spin-off series, or at least give the somewhat staling formula a fresh take.
