Strange, 5-6 years ago him joining MS was seen as a massive thing, he delivered absolutely nothing.

I'm a microsoft fan (most Sony fans here can't stand me whih says it all lol).

Fable series is basically what I'd call nice and cute. It lacks the deep WRPG mechanics, and lacks the JRPG style and story, it lacks the adventure games meat.

It's good for what it is. A cute fun adventure, but this is coming from a british guy here, it plays far too much on medieval cuteyness that doesn't have much behind it for me. It's good but not a classic. edit - to elaborate on the britishy thing, it exploits cheesy stereotypes that aren't relevant and never were - all well and good but if it's going to do that, I expect better. Kinda like a racist joke that is borderline acceptable if it has a fantastic punchline and is delevered in a good context. Fable could have been a great series, instead it was just a series. The Journey says it all really...shameful.

It's certainly didn't meet expectations in hindsight, reviewers were very kind to it and if reviewed now it wouldn't score as high imo.

I've never found british humour that good. No offense there. What I'm just saying is that while it could have been an outstanding series (We agree here) it's just merely good. But the game found its fans, so I would say he definitively did something worth mentioning. I can understand the hate he got for 3 and Journey though. I love 3, but even I can see how mediocre that game is. I've found 2 to be pretty enjoyable and cute, but while I do think it lacks every single RPG component from both west and east, I do think it nails it at being adventure game.

Around the Network

Whether Fable 1, 2, 3 is good really comes down to personal taste.
I always found it charming and fun with great artistic flair, whilst having a crap predictable story and dumbed down consolised controls and interface.

However, Peter Molyneux *has* made some of my all-time favorite games like Dungeon Keeper and Black and White, both RTS "God Sims".
He really should go back to his roots and make games in the genre he has always been brilliant in.

That would be great if he could/can.

I think if he'd have gone back to this 3-4 years ago he could have re-ignited the feelings those old games gave. Actually forgot dungeon keeper, while Black & White had something about it, like all his games it was definitely where things started to go wrong and he started trying too hard to create exactly what was in his mind.

I haven't given Curiosity a go yet but it sounds a bit too niche, but maybe that is the right direction for him to get back to the quality from the 90s. A small scale project where he likely can put his mind on paper, not to insult the guy as that sounds condescening but obviously with something not as full on as creating whole new worlds and what not on a grand scale, which we all know just isn't possible unless others are sharing that dream/direction.

I could be talking out my arse on this, just a perception. :)
