Forums - Sony - How much money Sony really lost with the PS3

I'd say PS3 was such a disaster that Sony can't afford to fail with PS4. They lost a ton of money and will not recover those assets. PS4 better be profiting from launch or they will be in deep trouble.

I think Sony will go "all-in" with PS4 and we will see how this will turn out.

How much is Sony losing on every Vita though? That's the question I want to know now.

Whatever it is, memory card sales probably help a bit.

Based on some people's definition of a comeback then I guess the Xbox had the biggest comeback ever. JK or am I?

The ps3 was a failure. This is already known. Will probably sell more than the 360 which the sony fans claim is a victory, but they fail to realise that the ps3 cost sony billions and no profit, which makes it the ultimate failure.

from a gamers perspective it wasnt. sony but out more and the best exclusives duruing this gen.

Your comprehension skills leave much to be desired. I never said anything related to Nintendo being a financial disaster.

neither did I say you said that.. FAIL! .. but nice try! =)

LOL your rant that ended with, "...is that good enough for you?" says otherwise, so don't try and cover your ass now that you're embarassed. You thought I was being unreasonable about the losses Nintendo has taken from the WiiU and 3DS even though they've only been on the market a short while. If you had read my post correctly, you would have understood that I was pointing out how silly it would be to do that, just like it's foolish that people are doing the same thing with the PS3 and 360 in this thread when neither console has stopped selling.

Just accept that you misread what I wrote.

again.. lol ! nice try.. writing more words doesnt make you right.. haha jus accept you failed! =) .. and you talk about comprehension fail.. lol!

.. i should take it easy on you though.. i can feel your pain cause you cant even explain yourself properly.. accept it.. PS3 is a financial failure..  it really is!.. truth hurts it.. really does. =)

2 things has to be admitted; PS3 did in fact an incredible come back after it's fiasco of a launch. It did quite poorly to begin with, but turning that ship around, and now being a VERY close third is very impressive. That's one thing

The other thing we have to admit is that PS3 cost Sony A LOT of money. It's profitable now, and it'll continue to make money for some years to come, but it'll never TRULY offset the money that it lost. It might have earned back every cent and dime it initially lost, but it will never be a big financial success. Never. It has lost too much money for that.

What we as gamers all can hope for, is that Sony learned a great deal of things by the PS3; let's hope PS4 kicks ass!

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

All the profit from PS1 and PS2 and then some, probably. A few billion easily

According to this article they profit on each Vita sold by a decent amount.

We keep getting told that it did so awful at the start yet launch aligned we are also told it outsold the 360 so it obviously was never that bad to begin with.  Its a lie spread by Sony fans to make the situation appear worse than it was.
