That's right. I just remembered. You did mention when vita was doing well that if it drops below 40k, it would be disastrous. My bad. I stand corrected.

OT: Soul Sacrfice is showing some legs, though nothing amazing yet.

I do agree. Like I mentioned before, it's not what you say, it's the way you phrase it.

For example, let's say I don't like the 3ds (which I do; planning to buy one when pokemon releases) and say:

"Wow at 3ds. When was it the last time that it sold that low in Japan?" It's a pefectly reasonable statement, but with an apparent twist of the truth, since it's selling almost as much as every other system in Japan combined. You get what I'm saying? There's always a negative angle you can choose and when you do it constantly, it gets annoying for some people.

Pretty lousy hardware sales all around.  In comparison, the same week in 2007 was 243k, and the DS alone outsold all the hardware this week.  For the same week in 2006, the DS was about double all the hardware this week.

Mario Kart 7 has fallen behind Mario Kart DS, and the DS never had an original 3D mario as a point of comparison.

If there's any impact from game cards supposedly being tracked by Famitsu and not by Media Create, it sure isn't making any clear trends. Neogaf doesn't know what they're talking about.

If anything this just reinforces the notion that the two simply use different stores for sales source data and have different estimation models, sometimes resulting in wide gaps between the two.

I dunno - I think Animal Crossing DS sold 5M, Mario Kart DS sold 3M in Japan. Luigi's Mansion wasn't around the previous gen so it's hard to compare. So, yeah, overall, the casuals aren't biting as much.

Mario Kart is indeed not having the same cumulative sales but not that huge gap, and it's doing better if we use global instead of Japan.

Then again we can't really expect 3DS to behave like the DS, the latter was just a monster.
