Yes I do because they do. Did you not see the people who enjoyed the PS4 demos? Graphics are the new in-thing. I've been gaming for years and I get it, but I can afford to keep up with it and have been exposed to it whereas you are arguing from a point of complete ignorance.

Come back when you have actually experienced cutting edge graphics. And no, you simply are relectuant to spend cash on graphics. Others are not and happily will pay for prettier games.
"Those that know the difference" - you mean those with eyes? If you can't see the difference clearly then I honestly advise you to see an optician asap. Or stop bullshitting. We are accustomed as humans to recognise what is real and what isn't, ergo everyone will notice when things don't look real, and the 7th gen is miles away from being photorealistic. Therefore improvements will be noticed by everyone. I will pt it down to financial reasons why you are being stubborn on this topic.

You're really being rude and not reading my posts. I _have_ watched the PS4 demos, I have watched the UE demos, I have watched the Lumina demo, and I _have_ seen some more cutting edge PC footage on youtube and on my roomie's PC. What you don't seem to understand is that I know the difference, like I replied to S.T.A.G.E., but I don't believe that that difference makes the game unplayable, like it did for Wii ports like COD, where things were blotchy and not in a proper resolution for a modern shooting game.

So I'm maybe not as familiar as you are, but I'm definintely not ignorant and I am upset at you for pushing that idea despite what I've posted this far about my exposure to the topic.

You've admitted to having never seen state of the art graphics so that does make you ignorant with regard to graphics, more so when you claim you can't see the point in them, the point in something you've never seen.

No one said the games are unplayable...Thats rediculous. However the downscaling of something for the PS4 would be so time intensive, and require such a cut back in system specs, it wouldn't be worth it and the end product would be too different from the original.

You've admitted you've never seen state of the art graphics - this does make you ignorant on the topic. Fact. Don't be upset at me, be upset at the dictionary.

LOL you hurt happydolphin's feelings too.  Sorry we are being meany-faces!

Graphics and tech whores are the worst kinds of gamers, and are absolutely what is wrong with the industry these days.

Just play games, enjoy them, and otherwise STFU about ridiculous tech arguments. Good day.

"If Madden was downscaled from a fucking cell processor system to a PS2, I have no need to get into the specifics. It's downscaling, and it's doable. You can reduce the resolution and the effects, just like you would with a low-end PC. There's nothing more to explain."

Yea like Dead Rising Wii which had like 8 zombies per area, downscaling fixes everything right?.

Please guys don't stop this thread the damage control is fucking hilarious.

Haters always seem to catch a good sensationalist story that helps fuel their propaganda, but miss it when another one comes out that debunks the first one.

http://www.vg247.com/2012/12/13/metro-last-light-wii-u-cancellation-not-due-to-horrible-cpu-claims-says-thq-rep/

The game is coming to PS3 and 360, but the Wii U can't handle it. You sincerely believe that those systems can handle it, but the Wii U can't?

Now this is my opinion, but I think the Wii U cancelation had more to do with THQ's financial woes and impending bankruptcy than the console being unable to handle games that the other ones apparently can.

*sigh* If you read the article instead of just the "sensationalist" heading, you'll find that he doesn't actually disprove anything.

“Our look at the Wii U extended to a very early look at some very early kits. We…we did some work on it, but we made a decision fairly early on that we weren’t going to commit further resource to it. So yeah, we didn’t go too far. Take any of the comments you’ve seen attributed with a pinch of salt – it’s certainly not been based on any kind of analysis of final hardware.

Sounds like just the usual PR to me. Damage control at it's finest.

*Sigh* and if you took a moment to think about my point, you would realize I'm not saying the original comments were disproven about the Wii U's CPU being too slow by the article I linked. I'm saying the guy said that's not the reason the game was canceled, and to think the Wii U couldn't handle a game that the PS360 can is just silly. I think it has more to do with THQ's financial troubles at the time and it's eventual death. I just found a dozen articles about THQ canceling its 2014 lineup that were published around the same time as the "horrible, slow CPU" story and its follow up. And as we all know, THQ was liquidated and its assets were auctioned off. Why would it keep projects in development to IPs it's about to sell off?

I knew someone would reply to me saying "PR, damage control" and all that jazz as I was typing the first comment. Doesn't prove or disprove anything, but I think my opinion and reasoning are a bit more grounded in reality than anyone's who thinks Metro: Last Light was canceled because of the Wii U's hardware.

Well.. quite a few devs have come out and complained about the same thing - the CPU. The whole THQ going down the pan argument has been done to death. Even Nintendo themselves issued a statement about the console. Go check out some comparisons of multiplats.. they all come to the same conclusion. Hell, even a Nintendo published title like Lego City has performance woes and that's a Wii U exclusive.

*Deep sigh*. You know what else has been done to death? The talk of Wii U's clock speed. I read the article you linked, and the guy from Nintendo said "raw CPU speeds are no longer so central to the overall hardware performance," the same things I've heard third party devs and people here on VGC claim as well. And last I checked, the Wii U isn't the first console to receive a less than stellar port of a multiplat. Newsflash: every console in the history of mankind has received shitty ports. And the 720 and PS4? I'm willing to go out on a limb and say they will have some crappy ports and poorly constructed games as well. Telling me one game has performance woes on a console doesn't suddenly make me want to rip it out of the wall and toss it out the window.

Why are we even debating this? Didn't M. Pachter say Nintendo took the Wii U out of the 'next gen' equation?

Exactly. When a thread is about hardware and software, it should be a bannable offence to join in the convo if you have no idea what you're talking about.

It looks that way - he couldn't stay objective. Seeing as you have a 7970, you obviously know the difference between what the consoles offer and what PC's offer - to act as if that difference is negligible, which he was, is just ignorance. I've a 560 Ti and even I can see that PC's, and therefore potentially the PS4, can still offer a hell of a lot more than what is on offer today.

Did I mention anything about clock speeds? No. If you are so desperate to prove Wii U's power why not do some research about it instead or throwing in random numbers and acusations.

Ok lets say the Wii U uses a tri core PowerPC 750 based [45nm] CPU (using an enhanced broadway architecture with added cache) running at 1.2Ghz with 1GB of usable DDR3 ram @ 12GB/s + 32MB eDRAM.. now compare that to what we know about the PS4: CPU - 8 64bit  Jaguar cores running at 1.6Ghz, 8GB of unified GDDR5 @ 176GB/s (with a small sizable chunk ram dedicated to OS and other). That a huge difference.. And thats not even taking into consideration more modern architecture of the APU's found in the PS4/Nextbox, or the the GPU assisted compute funtionality of the PS4. ~ That alone puts in a different ball park.

If the Wii is having issues with performance issues when put next to current gen consoles, then I hate to think what a downscaled engine built for PS4/Nextbox will look/play like on the Wii U. Argue all you like, I'm done here. By all means wait until next year and see how the Wii U situation plays out.. I think I have pretty good idea on how well the third party support will be like for the upcoming generation of consoles.

A day or two later, and you're still missing my point. Show me the part where I pulled up some random numbers about the Wii U or a comparable PC processor or whatever other piece of hardware under the sun. In all of my posts in this topic, where did I at all try to make it about how the Wii U's power stacks up next to the PS4 and Nextbox? Don't waste your time looking, because you won't find it. From the very beginning, MY POINT WAS ABOUT METRO: LAST LIGHT AND WHY IT ISN'T COMING TO THE WII U. I then went on to talk about how every console receives less than stellar ports. I will not repeat things I've already typed. Please go back and read more carefully.

If you're going to quote me and call me out, at least read what I type and stick to the subject of my post. And if doing so is such a challenge for you, then I'm glad you're done here. I won't continue to argue with a brick wall.

Do me a favor though: go look up vids of Tony Hawk's Project 8 on PS2 and PS3 and tell me which version you'd rather play.

You know what? That's a great idea! Let's take the idea and spread it all across the forums! It should be bannable offense to join in on the convo if you've never played a certain game, or spent __ amount of time with a certain console, or done this certain activity. That way we can all stay in our own happy little worlds and not worry about stepping on anyone's toes. Only one drawback though: what would people like yourself do with all the extra time?

You could join us in the NSFW topics about sex! Oh wait, nevermind...
