Dat Tomodachi Collection releasing April 18th - expect sales of atleast 400k at retail. Just in time for Nintendo's Investors Conference and Year-end report on April 24th.
Edit: Beatean by Otakumegane damnit.

There is a schedule thread I've been keeping updated (thank you to the people who have been contributing as well).
3DS Tomodachi is going to be big next week, after that Shin Megami Tensei 4 in May should be pretty good too.
Vita the 25th brings a bunch of smaller games of which Photokano will most likely do best, plus the release of 8 older games in the "Best" discount series all at once. After that Valhalla Knights 3 in May would probably be decent.
PSP has Seventh Dragon coming up next week which should be pretty good, and then in May there will be Summon Night 5 which will be big.
PS3 has the new Dragon's Dogma on the 25th, and Resident Evil Revelations in May. They should both do well.
That about covers the next couple months, kind of slow time of year overall.

Man the Japanese market is so much more interesting than the western one.
Wonder if it's because it's a more 1v1 situation than a 3 person free-for-all.

More like because it's not clogged up with bloody shooters and shooter variants. The genre is just overloaded to tediousness in the West. That and sports games.
Japan has a very healthy RPG and adventure type market, where fantasy is cherished over gritty realism. It really helps that CERO only gives the infamous Z rating, which restricts sales to adults, to explicitly violent games. Even (non-explicit) sexual content only gets a D rating, which is still purchaseable by anyone. It's a huge difference in values from the West. And it results in a very different game industry atmosphere.

Would you say the same for overused tropes and RPG elements in Japan? Like is there a single dominating genre like the shooter in the U.S?

I imagine Soul Sacrifice will the game that most people get whenever they buy a Vita. I wonder what the attach ratio is for it and new buyers.
