Forums - Nintendo - Pikmin 3, should I buy it when it drops?

I do have a partner, she's not into games that much but likes playing skylanders giants lol I'll see if I can get her into this

waaaay back when pikmin 3 was just announced to be in development i picked up 1/2 for the gamecube. i can't say i really enjoyed it much, never got past the first one but i have to say this was a game where i could immediately understand how the wiimote would make the gameplay a lot better.

there is quite a few other games in the genre: overlord, little kings story come to mind. i know there is a wii version of little kings story that is probably dirt cheap by now. if you are unsure, i'd suggest picking that up and giving it a go. if you like it at all you'll probably like pikmin too.

The game is very cute :) but can be a bit brutal at times

sometimes you just get smashed and loose all of your little buddies if you mess something up ;)
but it is a lot of fun :)

Pikemoin 3 has one of a kind gameplay.

How many hours does it take to complete the game?

Pikmin 1: 9 hours
Pikmin 2: 20 hours

Wow that's a big increase in hours from the first game, how did the first two sell sales wise?

According to VGChartz:
Pikmin 1: 1.63m (GC) + 0.58m (Wii)
Pikmin 2: 1.20m (GC) + 0.39m (Wii)

I doubt they made a return on the second game, unfortunately.

little kings story does not use pointer control....also i love pikmin and didnt even get 10% through little kings story game was super boring

the franchise is one of my favorites so I definitely recommend trying out the first game and if you like it you will really like the second one as it is the better game but both deserve to be picked up!

I can't wait for Pikmin 3 to come out!

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Pikmin 3 to me, will be a 20 bucks bargain bin game.

And it won't take much time to hit that bin.

Pikmin1 (to me) was entertaining but seemed like a semi rushed launch gamecube title...pikmin 2 was more like a fully developed game that obviously spent more time in development, hence the greater length and depth in gameplay...
I only had a passing interest in the original, but pikmin 2 was one of the best newer nintendo games of the last decade imo and I played it for weeks.
