While we'll see bumps in sales for every game released I'd be pretty surprised to see weekly numbers rise above 40k globally. Let's say the numbers will stabilize around 35k until September or there about... Nintendo really need to get their shit together!! This is just awful...

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

I really wonder what happened with Pikmin 3 and TW101. Those games should have been finished by now... If WiiU keeps relying on ports I'm not sure it can even maintain 30K a week throughout Q2.

It all depends on when/whether Pikmin 3 and Wonderful 101 release,
If Nintendo continues to fuck around like they did in Q1, sales will not improve. In fact, they'll probably get worse.

I think Nintendo have pretty much given up until the post e3 - holiday 2013 period. A stellar end of year lineup could see a reversal of fortunes (note, I said 'could')...

i have a weird feeling/theory that Nintendo deliberately launched early and are treating this time as a sort of 'beta' period while they iron out kinks, get their new os, virtual console, eshop, online functions etc up and running before the new rival consoles are released then they hope to kick ass later in the year. Or Maybe I'm just trying to rationalize what is basically the pissiest launch in video game history.

From here on it will gradually fall back to about 30k a week.

Pikmin 3 should propel it back into the 50-70k range for a few weeks. If it arrives this month or in early May, Wii U will average about 50k per week for the quarter. If it doesn't hit til June or later, the quarter will have a 30-40k average. Wonderful 101 won't cause much of a sales spike, but it should cause a mild passive baseline boost.

It's up to Nintendo; sit back and let the LEGO City/Monster Hunter boost die off to nothing, or do something. Given their behaviour lately, I suspect they'll do the latter.

Sure does seem like it. Though you'd think they would realize the importance of a good first impression.

Could be quite possible those games got moved into summer when Nintendo realized third parties were not going to help them out much. Just take the 1st half of the year as a write off and try to concentrate all software you might be able to release this year in the second half of the year, where a price drop is also probably within reach.

Very possible, but they need to give released dates already. Have to figure that there will be at least a month notice of a game launching. So at this point the quarter is 1/2 over and still no first party as well as only one game in April when they stated there would be a first party game each month.

However, NONE of the first party games have been given firm dates, but there are four that have been slated for Q2 for awhile now.

Pikmin 3 - great looking game and possibly a system seller to an extant, but it was supposed to be a launch window game. Where are you?
Game & Wario - fun, but not system selling.
Wonderful 101 - looks great, but I wouldn't expect this new IP to be a massive system seller. Combined with good marketing it will do well though.
Wii Fit U - sorry, but this ship has sailed. The fitness game craze is a lot like Nintendogs and Brain Training. They no longer have the same appeal and definitely don't sell systems anymore.

...

i dunno super.  that's a pretty big wild card.  with no release date yet it's hard to believe they launch in april.  hell, even early may  is pushing it.  i've got to assume something launches in june but which one?

nope, not calling it.  the only thing i'm sure of is every day that goes buy without any dates the less likely that Q2 can improve upon Q1.

The only hope I have is that Nintendo has not said that they are not coming in Q2 yet. I'm still thinking a small one like WiiFitU will come April with two in May and one in June. Guess we'll see soon enough. I'm betting on a ND next Thursday as they'll want to have it before the investors meeting.
