No, no, no. Those people call it whatever they feel appropriate for a console with no confirmed name, just like us. I don't know what it's going to be called but I know what it's NOT going to be called: Xbox 720. Why? Because there's a meaning behind 360 but none behind 720. Also, 720 reminds people of 720p and that's not what MS want people to remember their next console for when 1080p is likely to get even more popular and the next Xbox might have support for even higher resolutions (even if they're not going to get widely used). 720p is either past or today, not tomorrow, and that's just bad marketing.

I wholeheartedly agree and propose MS name their next console Xbox1080-4K.

Then again, aren't they officially calling 4K and 8K UHD now? Maybe they should call it XboxU.

So you all really think that somebody will see 720 in the store and as they're buying it they ask the cashier "wait! Hold up one god damned minute! why is it called 720!? That makes no sense! Im not buying this crap!!"

actually.. wouldnt the next in line need to be called Xbox 540?

I don't see why it would be 540. XBox (0), XBox 360, Xbox 720 -> 360 increments.

Also, 540 degree is a full turn plus a 180 so in other words turning back, it sends the wrong message .
