Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony's FY2012 Earnings: $458m Profit (FY); 3.4m PS3+PS2 (Q4); 1.3m PSV+PSP (Q4)

Holy hell, so Sony managed to lose nigh 7 billion dollars on the PS3? And geez, look at that trend.

PS1 - 3.13 billion profit

PS2 - 2.20 billion profit

PS3 - 6.89 billion dollar loss

If Sony doesn't get their act together, PS4 could be the 4th in what is already a diminishing return turned loss.

Where did you get those data?

How many PS3s do you think has been sold in Q4? FY12? I say more than 1.3M.

1.6m PS3 shipped... 1.9m combined (PS3 + PS2).

0.3M PS2s? No way... They wouldn't have stopped production jus after the holiday season if that was the case.

So, we don't really know how much they lost on the PS3 then since we only have the division data.

Sony never stopped the PS2 production... in fact Sony said in GDC this year the contrary... the PS2 is still in production.

Yeap... Game division profit/loss... and 2009, 2010 and 2011 the Division have the Vaio and other products together.

I'm seeing that the FY2011 is actually the losses for the Consumer Products and Services which includes TVs, Home Audio and Video, Digital Imaging, Personal and Mobile Products, Game and Other.

So, I'd say the PS3 didn't lose $6.89B.

This was in Japan based in a article with no word coming from Sony... just The Guardian assuptiom... so fake.

Last real words about PS2.

"JR: Typically history can help us only so far here. We’re actually still selling PS2s in regions such as the Middle East seven years after we introduced PS3. There are a number of reasons why the transition might be a bit more accelerated this time round, but PS3 is a very important part of our portfolio, certainly in 2013, 2014 and probably beyond that."
