Time to see if they "ruined" it for the filthy casuals according to the naysayers.

We can only hope they don't ruin it...The game should have no difficulty setting or else that will ruin the experience completely, Gamespot made a nice video about it.

I still don't get how that would ruin it for you guys.  I mean I just platinumed DS but I don't think having an easy mode would ruin it.  Just have a trophy for beating on hard so everyone knows the guy is a pussy.  Also keep the online communities separate for easy and hard.  That way everyone gets to enjoy the experience they want.  I just don't really like the mechanics so the challenge is the only thing that had me go for DS and that was only after it got free on + was I motivated to finish (with a lot of help from a pro who had beaten NG++++++)

Trust me I know what you're saying, but seperating the online community via difficulty setting? The souls games don't sell THAT much, it would really lessen the online experience.

but wouldn't most of the easy mode players be new guys?  That means the old audience or roughly the amount of guys that bought Demon and Dark would be on their hard setting anyway.  I think it would broaden the audience and your community would stay intact.  I look at it like Ninja Gaiden Sigma.  The game still has its reputation but there is an easy setting where you wear a flower or something.  The only bad thing I can see coming from this is really good players playing on easy and trolling the new guys who want an easy experience by becoming black phantoms.  I think that would be rare and I also don't think it would effect you or any other person playing on hard since they would be on your skill level if you faced them and it would be just like the last 2 online.  Maybe there's some cause for concern but I don't see it.

The guy who helped me out and me were talking on Skype while playing and he basically said a bunch of fans were planning to boycott it if it had an easy mode.  I told him everything I told you and he basically said he just wanted to be able to say he beat DS2 and not have anyone else around him say it.  To me that's really narrow minded and narcisstic especially considering that I really didn't have that hard of a time with it (except when the damn targetting system either wouldn't target on steps or was blocking my view in tunnels) and I never play that type of game.  It really is a fun game once you get the feel down and I think a lot of people would start on easy and work their way up like any game.  I used to play Uncharted on easy then before 3 came out I decided to do 1 and 2 on hard and crushing and it was rewarding and now I try almost every game on hard.

Dude, one big problem if a company listens to the supposed fans for an easy mode is that the community knows that they can just bug FROM software for other things, similar to how a pc port happened. And the messing around with easy players would happen a lot! The community is cruel and heartless lol

this is true and it would probably become part of the community's protest to the mode that they would make sure no easy mode player could finish lol.  Fight the expansion of our fanbase!

I was talking with some guy who was helping me get platinum the other day and he said if they put in an easy mode it would ruin the game and a bunch of fans were signing up to boycott it. I really don't get that. If you beat it on hard there should be a trophy for that just like with most games. The other person will have no bragging rights if they don't have the trophy and as long as the online communities are kept separate your hardcore experience will be unaffected. Any Demon/Dark Souls fans disagree and why?

i would say they should actually sell 2 different versions of the game, the casual and the hardcore

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

you know that's actually the best solution I've seen.  Dark Souls 2: Fluffy Bunny Edition and Dark Souls 2: We Keep Trying to Get You to Stop Playing!  Why Won't You Take a Hint?  We Just Want to Make a New Series Edition

Everytime I hear anything about Dark Souls it makes me think of this song....

someone should make a FMV :D

Greatness Awaits

PSN:Forevercloud (looking for Soul Sacrifice Partners!!!)

and GoTY 2014 folks.

Hell GoTY 2013 by the off chance it makes it.

I'm very happy that it stays faithful the originals, and that they aren't "dumbing it down" so to speak to capture more players. Player in the video obviously was overpowered given his HP/Stamina/Armor and he still got 1 shot at one point.

I highly doubt they would make this only for PS3/360.

The visuals/graphics looked largely like a current gen game, but this has got to be a cross-gen game.
