Forums - Politics - Should America Strike China before they get us first?

War is never the answer. The USA should do everything they can to avoid a war, no matter when or where. Besides, if the USA attack China, all hell will break lose. Russia will come to help China, NATO will help America and we will have a full blown World War 3. The world would be torn apart, literally.

I also don't think China has any interest in attacking the United States. What's the point? They would have a chance of winning, but what will be the price? Once a nation gets desperate, they won't hesitate to unleash Armageddon by using nuclear weapons. So even if China "wins" their country will be burned to ashes. The same implies to the USA if they get the ridiculous idea to attack china. There simply won't be a winner in any kind.

Fighting for peace is like fucking for virginity. That saying is so old and yet so true.

Yeah sure, it's going to be so fun when World War III breaks out :D

meh it would be more of a trade and currency war like what is going on now, brazil dropped the dollar and soon australia and with no real leadership in washington i dont see good days ahead.

there is a panty waist administration in place, i doubt a cyber war would be launched by the us. at least nothing major.

I've been meaning to ask you for a while now, spurge: are you on drugs how many drugs are you on?

You are right OdinHades, War is not an answer, but if we are attacked first then what? And not in a 9/11 sort of way. Air strikes and bombings. I am sure China could probably hit multiple cities at once if they wanted.

China can't possibly pull of something like that unnoticed. If a massive air strike is flying from china, the world will take notice and the US will likely get their defenses up. Besides, CIA should be at least somewhat informed if China is planning to start a war. There is simply no way that China will Blitzkrieg Americas ass, I don't see it happening. China would also risk to lose their allies if they do not declare war properly as they would be violating each and every rule there was ever made. China alone doesn't stand a chance, they would be crushed by the international community in no time.

A full scale war against the United States would have to be planned for years. If the united states aren't totally dumb, they will see the signs and act properly. For example, if china starts to fund the military with 30 % of their net income, that would be the time to start worrying. But until then, there is no sign that china wants to attack the United States. They are better off if they build up their economy anyways, as they will very likely get more wealthy than the US sometime in the next few decades. A political war is already going on, I'll give you that. But I don't think it will end with an actual war.

No, just no. China is no threat to the US or Europe. What evidence is there to actually suggest this? If anything, China is carrying most of us through this recession by loaning to us constantly and why would we attack them? They make alot of the stuff we want. America, just accept you can't dominate the world anymore

You've got to stop reading those conspiracy theories.

Starting a war with China (or them with the US) makes no sense no matter how you slice it.

Declaring war on China would be an act of madness. The economy is far too tied into it, and plus the majority of the American public wouldn't support it, anyways.

Roosevelt was in the same position, trying to figure out how to enter WWII with an American public that was already worried about the war in Europe and not wanting to get involved with the developments in Asia. Once Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, he had a finally had a pretext to declare war which everyone could get on board with. Then Hitler declared war against the US shortly after in support of Axis agreements, and the US could enter the war from that direction, too.

But China isn't Germany or Japan. For one, it's a nuclear power, too. It has about 200-ish warheads, any of which could be active. The States wouldn't be able to first strike, because it's contrary to international opinion, which it still needs to worry about because of the thousands of nuclear warheads in countries like Russia, UK, France, etc. China would be able to strike back in self-defence though, actually supported under the Geneva Conventions which also specifically prohibits the use of chemical or biological warfare.

You could carpet bomb all the cities and military installations with conventional weapons but in the end such a war could only be won on the ground. And China's got over a billion people, of which it's thought 200 million could be put under arms to fight for the Motherland. That would be a moderate mobilization. The only higher military mobilization in recorded history, other than Rome after Cannae, was the US itself in WWII, when it hit about 25% of the population directly involved in the war effort. It wouldn't end well.
