So yeah as the title says what type of gamer are you?

Let me explain.
I was thinking about what type of gamer I am and that this also totally explains why I dont just buy Sony or Microsoft consoles but why I also buy like every Nintendo system even tho alot of people hate Nintendo. My consumer behavior is highly influenced by my NES SNES N64 days (Also had a PS1 back then!)

"Current" and "next" gen systems I have:
Wii
PS3
360
3DS
WiiU
PC

So what type of gamer am I what do I hate and like about games?
I guess I am somewhat of an aware and nostalgic gamer.

  1.  I hate quick time events.
  2.  I hate tons of tutorial text during the first hours of gameplay that tries to explain every crappy combo whatever (I am not a toddler! ever heard of trial and error?) If you insist on explaining anything show me a 2 second video and no wall of text! P.S. I even mastered the Commodore 64 "menu"!
  3. I hate stuff that rates my style of play.  Stuff like in Bayonetta where after an awesome event the complete game immersion gets destroyed by   YOU GOT SILVER/GOLD WHATEVER   or stuff like  GRADE F because you mastered this levein 2 mins instead of 50 seconds BLAH! (because you dared to look at our beautiful scenery that took us weeks to create! Next time ignore it and rush through the game like an idiot!)
  4. I hate every DLC and never ever paid a single cent for DLC in my life and never will! (I wait for GOTY editions / GTA complete etc. No GOTY no buy!)
  5. I ignore most mainstream titles like Fifa, Madden. COD, Need For Speed  because I think they lack soul.
  6. I mostly buy jrpgs, innovative games, exclusives and niché titles (Yakuza, 3d dot game heroes, Okami, Little King's Story, Zak n Wiki, No More Heroes, Borderlands, Mario etc.) Gaming was something special  I want it to stay that way!
  7. I stopped playing multiplayer games that removed dedicated servers and started to go "official servers only". Because they just want control so they can say GAME OVER DUDE! BUY OUR NEXT GAME PLEASE! There is no plausible reason why console games cant have optional dedicated servers or why there is no optional dedicated servers for PC games other than PROFIT!!!!
  8. For me artstyle is more important than realism and gameplay is more imporant than graphics. Hell for me even sound is more important than visuals
  9. I grew up with don't-hurry-don't-worry-mentality. Meaning I heard about Super Mario Kart or Turtles in Time no problem I could still buy those 3 years later. Whereas todays industry says "everything that didnt sell within the first 3 months failed." (WTF?!) Maybe thats a reason why Nintendo gamers and third party doesnt work that well. (Even today Nintendo games dont drop in price like forever!)
  10. I don't care about achivements or trophies at all as long as they dont have a meaning. Does it unlock stuff like in Smash Bros? Well then yes please. Is it just a digital "icon" that boasts peoples egos with the only purpose to compare d!ck size? No thanks!
  11. I am a coop not competitive gamer. I play with friends against others or A.I. and love to team up. I dont like to beat my friends or get beaten by them.
  12. I prefer couch/same room play over online gaming anytime!

So most of the stuff that I wrote matches what Nintendo offered. NIntendo had no DLC (up untill 3ds)  is mostly couch gaming, does not have achivements (only individual games have those and they almost always have rewards/unlockables YAY!) Even the powerful Gamecube focused on artstyle more than on realism (Wind Waker) etc.

This is what type of gamer I am. What about you?  And what systems do you have?

Feel free to name as much as you want!  Thanks for reading.

I am looking forward to collecting, analyzing and selling your information  ;)  (obviously JK?!?)

Around the Network

I prefer:
coop
Both kinds (couch or online)
If the DLC is great I buy it
I prefer Art-style over realism, but I want it to be a technical showcase. If it has nice art-style but the textures look dull, there is low detail in characters, and there is low graphical fidelity in general, then no buy.

I don't like games running at 30 FPS particularly with frame drops... particularly if it's in 720p or lower.
I hate screen tearing.

I'm not really a graphics whore despite what I said above, my favorite games this gen, are TWEWY, Deus Ex: HR, Fallout: New Vegas, and Dark Soul's.

I won a wii, I own PC,X360, PS3, PSP, and Ipad

I like RPG's or games with RPG mechanics even if it's starting to be overdone now, though if done well I like pretty much type of game,

I don't enjoy the mechanic of not letting you die for whatever the reason, unless ofcourse it's a puzzler but then you get game over, a racer, etc, even then it should have damage imo, and destruction. (Bioshock (I still like this game but idiotic mechanic), kirby epic yarn, Prince of Persia (again I like this game too).

But your topic

Not a fan of DLC, but I will buy it if it adds value to a game I like.
I generally Prefer Stylized artstyles, than pure realism, and I like variations of artstyles within that context. Like say Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Metal Gear, or even Crysis, has a stylized artstyle but is somewhat realistic, or Final Fantasy, Okami, which is quite fantastical.

i like pokemon... so realism :P

a realistic artistry? final fantasy-ish???? i guess
