San Andreas to GTA IV is not a fair comparison, we will have to wait for GTA V for that.

Square pretty much admitted it but whatever

I've never ready anything to suggest it. Source?

just go to google and type in something like "square cut content from final fantasy 13" or something

there will be multiple links

Did it. Didn't find any quotes from anyone at Square saying the 360 limited game content. Everything mentioning cut content doesn't say it was for the port.

I remember reading an article about a 3D asset artist working for Square on FF13. She said she worked for months on a 3D model of a rock. It wans't that it was difficult or it needed to be just right for a really special scene. It was just a random rock, but nobody check in on her and she had nothing else to do but work ont he rock.

Stories like that tell me that Square lost focus and had too many people working on too many things. Of course unfinished junk is going to get cut from a game when you have too many cooks in the kitchen and the head chef doesn't even know what's for dinner.

Supposedly the cut content wasn't "junk"

i also remember square stressing about getting ff13 on specifically 3 discs for 360. That's what they kept "aiming" for.

Edit: i couldn't find a link for the specific article i read on it but here is this http://www.vg247.com/2010/02/02/confirmed-ffxiii-360-to-ship-on-3-dvds/

they had to cut a game's worth of content from FF13 so it could fit on 3 360 discs

That link does nothing to back up your claim, though.

You are correct that a game's worth of content was cut, but the 360 was never blamed for it:

neh.. that debate ended a long time ago:
http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=98160

the game size is just 6.8gb.. so any content "cut" was intended to be cut.. nothing to do with the 360.. you could even blame the ps3 for not having enough space for the movie files..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

it's only 6.8gb because THEY CUT THE CONTENT FROM IT

that 6.8 is the game we got. It is the butchered version of what we were originally going to get. which is also the game that many didn't like and criticised Square for

That's not what the link says. You're filling in blanks that aren't there.

Was a games worth of content cut from FF13? Probably. Was it cut for the 360 version? No, it was cut because they had too many branches  and pruning had to be done or the game would never be finished.

Talk to any game director and they will tell you that games get planed with far more content than they ship with. Some of it hits the cutting room floor before it gets started, other stuff gets cut later when it becomes obvious that it won't make deadline or no longer fits into the revised vision of the game.

I'm a hobby game maker and all the games I've completed have plenty of stuff cut that I originally planned to include. I'm currently working on some games for Android and iOS and they are still months away from release and I've already made plenty of cuts. I'm telling you that it's normal for stuff to be cut from games. It's the nature of the creative process. You start out with a plan, the plan changes, you cut stuff, move on, and ship what you can finish without going over budget.

you have to remember that Square cut a MAJOR load of content from the ps3 version of FF13 to fit on 3 360 discs

FF13 would've been a better overall game

we will never know what FF13 was REALLY supposed to be like

but what's done is done

Now it wasn't. That is a myth. FF13 was almost certainly finished and ready to go when at the last minute it was delayed to be ported to 360. It would have been the exact same game had it been a PS3 exclusive. Stuff gets cut from all games during development for many reasons. Everything that was cut from FF13 was most probably cut before it was ported, which is normal for game development. There is no evidence to suggest that the game was changed in any way due to the limited disc space of the 360. The 360 version was compressed and put on multiple discs and that's the only difference.

The most evidence we have is that it WAS cut to fit the 3 360 discs

that doesnt explain anything, the bluray discs have more space, there are a few multiplat games that came out on more than one disc for 360 that didnt need so for PS3, doesnt automatically mean stuff was cut. And what was the stuff that was cut? Wasnt most of the game done BEFORE they even started porting to 360? How much was done before they were even approached by MS? They never said. Im not buying it, I think they made a crappy game and when they were found out they tried to shift the blame to 360

5 Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 X360 2010 Fighting Namco Bandai Games         0.72

Going multiplat clearly payed off for this series, the PS3 version of UNS2 outsold UNS1, Xbox360 just adds insult to the injury (is the proverb called like this in english?)

Have you played the games? The cutbacks are ridiculous. There's no longer an adventure mode which is what made me buy the first game in the first place.

the blu ray discs have more space and Square was using it but then butchered it to fit 3 dvd9's(360 discs)

we really don't know when they started working on the 360 version. It's obvious that it was before the E3 2008 reveal though or atleast had it in mind.

and the content that was cut is something that we will never know. We will never know what the REAL ff13 was going to be like

I think they made a crappy game and when they were found out they tried to shift the blame to 360

i guess i can understand why you think this since FF14 came out and was pretty much garbage lol but we still didn't get the full FF13 experience that we were supposed to get.

but like i said before, what's done is done
