Forums - PC - Terraria going back into Development (New Screenshots!)

I don't if anyone else here has played the game or is aware of the developmer issues. There was a huge outcry on Terraria Online forums when Redigit abruptly announced he was stopping development on the game about a year ago, but out of the blue suddenly he is back in development... there are already screenshots of what is to come. I put about 144 hours into this game according to Steam with my husband. Basically weeks straight, he'd come home and we would multiplay together, building, leveling our tools and our chars, so on....

It's a pretty cool game. It's like a 2D minecraft, but the adventure parts of it are far better than Minecraft. It's an RPG and a lot of stuff is more customizeable. I still like Minecraft better for creation mode, but Terraria, I got plenty of fun out of it for the small price that they charge for it... I don't know the price now, but you can get the game as low as $2.50 during steam sales... maybe even cheaper, but I think the standard price is $10. It's easily worth $60 with the amount of content in it...

They are releasing (or have released, not sure) for Xbox Live and PSN, but I honestly think the PC version is the best and easiest way to play...

I for one look forward to the update

If someone already started a thread on this, I apologize :(

This game was amazing fun, the extra combat elements made it better than Minecraft IMO.

Hm? This is only just announced here?

My friend told me this about 2 or 3 weeks ago, and I'm sure it wasn't new news then, either.

Apparently the update was going to be released soon, but he's pushed it back a little longer...

The screenshots are new. I don't know anyone else who follows this game, so I decided to post when I saw the screenshots and thought they looked interesting! The art looks a little 'off' since it is a different artist, though I think it is going a good direction

such a good game! Only played it like 30 hours, and still there is tons I have not done!

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

Could be the fact it is now home on consoles to has meant that the developers see reason to go back and work on it.

That's kinda what I think also.

It's been a while since I played so I'm waiting a while to restart so it'll be "fresh" and me and the hubby can replay through it all again :). When "Hard mode" starts it kinda sucks though because you spend a lot of time reinforcing your home from Corruption. However it does give more specific purpose to the "adventure" side of the game than the open-ended aspect of Minecraft. I really like both games though. The music and your choice of light-rendering is pretty cool too actually... if you are an RPG fan, you will find a lot to love in Terraria.

What is corruption in the game?  I keep thinking Minecraft, and applied to this game, I would assume you would be safe by building a moat.

What I found about Minecraft is that one runs out of things to find.  Terraria got my interest assuming that you could find or do more.

No, Corruption is unique to Terraria. It changes blocks to "Corruption" within a certain distance and enough of them changes the Biome to Corruption. Corruption in "Normal Mode" does not spread, but when "Hard Mode" is activated, it puts a stripe through your map and it spreads overtime until it takes over the map... You can stop it with certain blocks because they are not corruptable and certain things like even "corruption vines" can contaminate and reach your area, that's why you have to be very careful how you construct your base (but you won't learn that until you hit Hard Mode though)...

The total opposite is "The Hallow" which is like killer unicorns and stuff like that. But it plays pretty music and the stone is colored pearly pretty sparkly colors.

I think Hallow spreads too, but I can't be sure. There's tons of wikis and discussions on this stuff.

I will look into getting the 360 version sometime. Way backed up on stuff and limited on cash.
