Oh, one negation too much ;) but you got it. And yes, the anology is quite true, especially when many of them we are talking about are definitely still young :D

It's what ppl seem to do: They buy a product and if this does not succeed/dominate they feel they made a bad decision which is nonsense to me. Especially this is dangerous if you want to discredit others to feel better because your favorite product isn't dominating. This is mainly why we have console-wars... (and others like Intel/AMD, Apple/World, redheads/blondes ;))...

So basically the 720 is the nearly the same thing as the PS4 except with a more accurate and advanced Kinect and the immersive thing he's referring to is probably the illumiroom which looks great. Overall, the 720 looks more impressive to me provided those rumors are correct.

It's pretty obvious when all's said and done that the 720/PS4 are going to be fairly close in performance, much like this generation. I'm sure Sony 1st party studios will be pulling out some tricks that won't be matched on the 720, much like with the Xbox 360/PS3, but I'd say that's more a testiment to their talent and Sony's ability to invest the time needed than anything else.

Having said that, it's all x86 based now, so who knows.

People seem to be forgetting that the actual confirmed specs of the PS4 although close to the rumours certainly weren't spot on and much less is known about the 720. We basically have a load of rumours peddled by morons who sound like they don't even know how to turn a computer on.

Take that latest one about the 720 having 12 processing cores for the GPU and the PS4 having 18...theose bits sound believeable, until one reads the rest of what this supposed insider has to say...Then he/she just sounds like a twatty 14 year old fanboy who doesn't even know what a graphics card is. Sorry I can't find the actual article on N4G to quote and can't be bothered looking, but we've all read it. :)

With that standard of rumour - which is all we've really had, nothing is set in stone at this point except the PS4 is going to be a damn fine machine for coding on, the 720 is going to be in a similar area of performance and that we should be expecting some good visual upgrades for next gen.

Durango rumours come from the same source PS4 rumours came so they're most likely true, atleast the ram and cpu part.

Yeah, the illumiroom thing looks great, at least to me. 

Yeah it will be boring, but at least both will be more competitive which means lower prices and more exclusives etc. And both will sell more than the WiiU. 

What if Microsoft just "leaked" some fake information just to throw us off. Then when they announce it they'll say no mandatory kinect. And then Pitbull comes out and dances.

Yeah, we can't rely on rumors. 

And the thing that will determine the success of both machines will be their price. If both are too expensive, then both will not sell many units.
