Forums - Gaming - Do we buy exclusive games on our console of choice even if we don't want them?

No dude, you aren't a slave to the company of the console you bought. They aren't forcing you and neither should you feel obligated to buy anything that you know you don't want to play.

There is a limit to how much of a fanboy one can be. I understand defending a console/game that you really like that others are hating, but buying a game just because its an exclusive on the platform of your choice is just ridiculous in my books. If the games are good, they will sell by their own merit. Buy the games that you want to play and have fun with them. Don't waste money on stuff that you KNOW for sure you won't like. Not saying you shouldn't try new things but you should use your hard earned cash wisely and not waste it.

I have a good few Exclusives sure, but I definitely do not buy the "big named" ones.

Definitely doesn't effect what games I buy thats for sure.

Damn what a good point @ OT

I used to be very guilty of this on GameCube and Xbox. But it rarely happens to me now. I will say that if Lego city where not on wii u I would have waited till it was cheap. I just needed a wii u game and I love the open world and shiny graphics. I don't regret buying it but it's not my usual cup of tea.

most of my games are multiplatform

im pretty sure everybody has more multiplatform games than exlusives but here on the site users tend to ignore multiplats as much as they can

You mean except the Nintendo fans.

We are an evil bunch.

i was going to say except nintendo fans, but i didnt for two reasons.

1- because some people, i dont know how. can take that as a diss to nintendo by saying they dont got 3rd party games, or that someone would come in and comment on how third parties suck compared to nintendo games and a whole flaim war could start off of my comment

2- its not like we should dismiss all 3rd party games on nintendo Wii, it really isnt illogical that Wii owners would have more multiplats than exclusives on the Wii

lol can't blame you, all of my Wii games are from Nintendo

I'm a Nintendo fan, and exclusive games on Nintendo consoles always get a little more attention from me, but it's not even just for the company that I'm a fan of. I bought a ton of PS3 exclusives, basically just because they were exclusive. Did I like these games, well no not all of them. So kind of an update to my OP, are you more drawn to games that are exclusive on your platform?

What i've done lately, is just though "would I play this exclusive if it were not exclusive to my platform?" Often times the answer is no. I think it's a sickness or something. :)

Definately im way more drawn to exclusives. I may try sayibg what you said, to myself nexttime though. Could save me some money.

I usually just buy whatever interest me at the time. Exclusives do tend to grab my attention more though when they are announced.

Nope. I buy games I like. Maybe my first attempt at a series, but I leave it at that if I don't end up liking it. I would have not bought God of War if my brother didn't convince me to buy 3. I ended up buying the rest but I'm waiting on ascension.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(
