Try finding your problem on youtube. A lot of problems can be found and have a quick fix on youtube but it probably will not last a few months after that. Crazy machines doing random crazy things.

I'll try but Im having a hard time thinking of key words for this problem.

Well I typed in PS3 keeps shutting off /turning off. Try some of those that pop up. No idea if it is the same problem but maybe similar problems can help the overall problem too.

What kind of ps3 do you have? is it skinny, fat? I don't know if this will help resolve your problem, I was just curious.

Its about time. Have you opened this system up? Is the warranty sticker still in place? Have you ever changed the thermal compound of your PS3? It dries up after a certain years. I changed it twice for my PS3 60GB Fat. Once, because I was paranoid from the YLOD, and the second was because I felt I didn't do it correctly the first time.

Sorry dude!  Sometimes I find it helpful to vaccume/blow all the dust out of the system.

Also, not sure if there is a 'cashe' but sometimes helpful to delete it, and reinstall the latest updates.  (Only if the problem stil happenes after you last update.)

Hope it helps, or you could try a friend with a PS3, and happy vacation!

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

Yes, I sent it for repair to fix my disc problem about a month ago and they opened it up. The warranty sticker is gone. I never changed the thermal compound of my ps3.

I dont have a vaccume so I think I'll use a can of air instead, but I know if its a problem of dust. Thanks

The white thermal compound used by Sony on the Launch titles dried up after 2.5 years. I remember people were bitching that they were getting the YLOD after 3 years and they new that the system was getting hot because they could hear the fan getting loud very fast without playing any games. Something about the motherboard telling the fan it was hot, but the cooling system not being able to cool it because the good contact from the thermal compound had been lost (due to a dry thermal compound paste). Does the fan on your PS3 ramp up without playing anything? Does your PS3 have enough room to breath on the back & right side? Did the person who change your CD drive clean out the dust bunnies from your system? Do you have complete faith in the person who opened up your system? Are you paranoid yet? If you are paranoid, don't wory; it's a normal feeling.  (sorry, all joking aside) Start by turning on your PS3 for 5 minutes to listen to the fan; it might help diagnose the problem.

Damn slow down I think your more paranoid then I am lol. Anyways my ps3 did start to get loud when I witch it on for a while now. I remember it being as silent as a lamp. When the guy opened up my ps3 it was dusty as hell, but I didn't asked him to clean it up cause I though he would charge me more for it :P .
