Many months ago publisher 2K Games and developer Firaxis jointly announced that a Wii build of Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution was underway alongside Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo DS incarnations. However, 2K Games confirmed to IGN Wii today that the Wii iteration of the real-time strategy game has been put on indefinite hold.

"Development for the Wii version of Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution is currently on hold," a spokesperson for 2K Games said. "We are focusing our attention on creating the best possible Civilization experience for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo DS platforms."

No but seriously I find this funny, that 2K and Firaxis can be so dumb as to avoid the Wii in place of the PS3 and 360, guess some devs just don't like piles of cash

It does seem pretty strange to see a Wii game cancelled like that especially since the DS version is still being made.

well, it happens. There's no need to read too much into it.

it's too expensive to build a Wii game from the ground up, without a PS2 port. So they ditched it. Too high a financial risk, that's all.

This honestly doesn't make any sense. Why would you go PS360 when you would sell better on Wii? Plus, they probably would have saved development costs if they had canned the other 2 versions.

not really, mutiplatform PS360 will for sure sell better than just Wii alone. Look at AC and CoD4.

if all company cheapens out and make games like Chicken Run for the pure sake of "save development cost", it will ruin the game industry as a whole.

Whew... I misread the thread title and thought the game was suspended for all platforms.

Well, that certainly sucks for Wii users but at least some of us will get to play it.

Nyah nyah! ... I kid, I kid.

I wonder why they cancelled it?

 But this is a thinking person's game, not a mindless shooter or racer, its perfect for the Wii (lol, I kid)
