Wii-U not "next gen" confirmed, as all sensible people stated already and as all desperate people denied. Was plain as day already. This is not a fanboy comment but people really need to stop taking things so personally and acting so precious. Some of us take a genuine interest in the hardware and couldn't give a monekys if it is or isn't next gen on a defensive personal level! The Wii-U will surely receive some top games during it's lifetime including the usual Nintendo greats, that isn't in question. I'm very pleased a top developer from a top development company that's respected has finally come out and said it. It should even help with the "is Wii-U next gen" threads. Good all round for everyone :) *I have a Wii-U, (have every console except Vita) and take no delight in this announcement but do take delight in clearing up the mystery. Amen!

I don't think its what he's saying as much as the way he's saying it. Rational people can see the Wii U isn't going to be on par with the next Xbox/PS4, but the guy didn't have to laugh outright at the question he was asked. Makes him seem petty and unprofessional.

Fair comment, although I do disagree as I would take his comment in context of discussing hardware. I think my comment with the term "precious" is relevant here. He's a hardware guy, his job is to get the best out of hardware available and will therefore be somewhat of a geek. If someone asked my views of AMD CPUs I would make a similar comment to him in his position.
Have to bear in mind that just because these people make games doesn't mean they give a flying F (sorry but I really mean it that strongly) about "gamers", games consoles - in the precious sense or anything of the kind.
People need to understand and think outside the box, these ARE professional people, they just don't live computer games, they live coding computer games, very different things.
I think the only people who are offended would be people who have an un-natural association with the Wii-U/Nintendo. I could see exactly the same reacting if he said the same thing about a Microsoft/Sony product too...Too precious, too much personifying games consoles, and thus essence of fanboyism.
This is a gaming website, so it's natural that there will be a disproportiantely high number of people who are offended because obviously there will be a lot more closet fanboys around than at say, a book club.
This is just another angle, I don't feel too strongly on it all to be honest and it's more of a social observation than anything. At the end of the day, he's slagging of an inanimate object. Is that a terrible thing?
EDIT - Just to be clear here, I'm not calling you a fanboy, but talking of the general sentiment regarding people's feelings on these comments and where those sentiments are originating from.
