This is pretty crazy time for Nintendo to make a engine just for the wiiu that uses the wiiu to it's fullest and sell it to developers for cheap. Yea that will happen.

Everyone calm down! All this means is that the Wii U won't have much 3rd party support. From the beginning I always thought that if you bought a Wii U for the eventual Mass Effect 4 and Final Fantasy 15, GTA 6 etc, were doing this whole gaming thing wrong...

OT: why are people even surprised about this announcement? I mean the WiiU is an underpowered and underperforming system. If Nintendo doesnt get their act together fast, not even the ocasioanl japanese support will be enough for them #DQ10willbombontheU. |
What do you mean AAA online component? From what I can remember, it played like the HD games, but lacked features that could have easily been implemented. For crying out loud, the Dreamcast ran Quake 3 just fine.
I LOVE ICELAND!

I'm sure it will be made compatible with the Wii U at later point.

LMAO
Honestly though, the wii U will do fine. It sold 60k this weak just some randoms games (monster hunter/Lego city) came out for it. Once Mario Kart and Windwaker is here it will sell at a good pace.
Looks like Wii U is getting even worse treatment than Wii. I guess that is to be expected, considering the sales numbers.
Wii-U not "next gen" confirmed, as all sensible people stated already and as all desperate people denied.
Was plain as day already.
This is not a fanboy comment but people really need to stop taking things so personally and acting so precious. Some of us take a genuine interest in the hardware and couldn't give a monekys if it is or isn't next gen on a defensive personal level! The Wii-U will surely receive some top games during it's lifetime including the usual Nintendo greats, that isn't in question.
I'm very pleased a top developer from a top development company that's respected has finally come out and said it. It should even help with the "is Wii-U next gen" threads.
Good all round for everyone :)
*I have a Wii-U, (have every console except Vita) and take no delight in this announcement but do take delight in clearing up the mystery.
Amen!

Do you honestly think shareholders will be happy with Gamecube or N64 level sales after the Wii? Having terrible 3rd party support does hurt the console big time. People talk about how huge Mario and Zelda are but they werent able to raise Nintendo to high console sales on their own. Its increasingly looking like Wii U is the next GameCube, not the next Wii |
It may suck for Nintendo and it may suck for the share holders but unless they don't pump out first party exlusives it really doesn't effect me. As far as I am concerned the wii was one of my least favorite Nintendo consoles. High sales or not. With Zombi U, NSMBU, and Exp. Monster Hunter the Wii U is already leaving a better taste in my mouth than the Wii did.
I still believe the Wii U will end up getting more third party support than the Wii did. We shall see.

When you look at what the Wii U is doing, and then compare that to what the PS4 is doing (and what 720 will likely do), it's understandable*.
*Concerning it's technical capabilities. Wii U is slightly more powerful than what devs have dealt with for 7-8 years now, but the other 2 present a significant push forward, a "generational leap" in graphics and physics, so it's no surprise the Wii U is a bit of a joke to tech nerds talking about next gen engines.

I don't think its what he's saying as much as the way he's saying it. Rational people can see the Wii U isn't going to be on par with the next Xbox/PS4, but the guy didn't have to laugh outright at the question he was asked. Makes him seem petty and unprofessional.
