Mind-altering prescription medications handed out by "doctors" for any little issue. Is it any wonder why mental issues have been exploding?

Woah there Tom Cruise how dare you speak out against the pharmaceutical companies :P
I was walking down along the street and I heard this voice saying, "Good evening, Mr. Dowd." Well, I turned around and here was this big six-foot rabbit leaning up against a lamp-post. Well, I thought nothing of that because when you've lived in a town as long as I've lived in this one, you get used to the fact that everybody knows your name.
Wow spurge, your "I know better than everyone else" sure isn't isolated to mafia games.
Count yourself extremely lucky that you don't have mental disorders.

Patients demand drugs to fix all their problems because they're not paying for them and they're an easy magic fix, as well as wanting a diagnosis as a weapon to get what they want in home/work/school, Doctors only too happy to provide because they get reimbursed.
Every kid who doesn't listen in class has ADHD. Every kid that's intelligent but learning to read slowly is dyslexic. Every kid who's not fitting in at school has Asperger's. It's much easier to get a diagnostic label and a box of pills than to sort out the underling issues preventing psychologically normal people from coping.
I have an Asperger's diagnosis... but I never got pills for it. I used the diagnosis to understand myself and learn to overcome my weaknesses. I turned down school help when offered because I didn't deserve special treatment. And 10 years later I can say that I can cope in the world and appear normal.
Pushing aside those strangely convenient diagnostics of apparently normal people, mental illnesses are a common feature of modern life. There are recent but controversial studies convincingly claiming there's evidence that due to social and biological reasons, people are increasingly more emotionally unstable, physically weaker and less intelligent with every passing generation.
Think we crept out from authoritarianism and warlordism because suddenly a few dead european men became enlightened? Sometimes I wonder if we are not always simply pushing the line back to tolerable levels for the system to work still. This and drugs like anti-depressants of course, as System of a Down would cleverly mention.

that's what you think. :P
Seriously though, normality also requires a degree of compassion, which as demonstrated your lack, is in fact very supportive of your diagnosis. Not trying to be a dick, I don't think there's any problem with mental disorder of any kind, and I support neurodiversity because I believe that there is no ideal brain configuration. Just letting you know in case you missed it.

if you take a closer look at those fashion diseases you'll realise that they 1st occure in the united states.
Some things like adhd started with bastard leon eisenberg(he invented this illness, became famous and rich and confessed on his deadbed he was wrong) the big pharma companies said, hail dr Eisenberg,we discovered a new market, let's drug little children.Together with dr robert spitzer they pushed this Adhd agenda.
Result-children growing up with cocain/amphetamin-like drugs(retalin etc). Now this children have grown up,but they are mentally out of balance because of drugs and too much media consumption.(24/7 games, movies, internet etc)
Result-real mental illness=bipolar.numbers rising
adhd was a phenmenon existing only in the us for several years.Like every shit that occures in the usa this shit needed sevetal years until it occured in europe.(the same with amok mass shootings)
why?
tv consumption:in the usa children were the first to be massivly exposed to TV.this is no good for little children.
especially not commercial and especially not subliminal commercial. The more tv they watch the more nervous the children become-that's what we call now adhd.Combining too much tv consumption ,commercials(irrational shocks)with drugs will turn many children into mental ill grown ups.And the pharma lobby is happy.(the same with vaccines.30 years ago you got 3 vaccines, now children get around ten vaccines and more and even grown ups are pushed to take vaccines against flue etc=more money for the pharma inc.)
In europe there was no adhd until the end of the 80ies-than private tv programms started american style.Within few years there were more and more children being nervous.Since ca. year 2000 adhd and drugging children is increasing and right now bipolarity is starting also in Europe,on a very low level, but in ten years it will be the same just like in the usa.
If you don't believe me:just take a look at non western countries, low tech, few tv,no primitive us style jerry springer tv,-adhd and bipolarity is very rare in those countries and even in the usa you won't find such a illness in groups that don't watch tv and don't take drug-medicine(eg. the amish)

You sound absolutely bonkers.
And correlation does not prove causation.
There are plenty of reasons diagnoses could be much lower in other countries. Low quality healthcare, less diverse doctor knowledge, stigma, etc.
I know someone with ADHD, and it's very plain to see that she has no control over it...there's a shell-like quality to her at some times, and very apparent. And she knows she has it, and she hates herself for it.
Now unplug your internet, someone might need to use the home phone.

I had manic depression for 5 years. Don't want to disparage psychologists and counsellors, but they didn't do shit for me back in University and I had to deal with it myself. I'm perfectly fine now. It's all about your state of mind, you have to make an active effort to change how you think, as generally when you're depressed you're just overwhelmed with negative thoughts and you can't stop them no matter how hard you try. It can lead to some scary anxiety attacks.
Whatever you do, don't take those awful drugs they use to placate you. Even if you're suicidal just talk it over with someone you're close to and make sure they aren't themselves a ridiculously negative individual. I feel we just live in stressful times where a lot can be expected of us. When my father tells me of his life back in the 60s, there was no pressure at all. He didn't even bother with University until he hit his 30s and his life still turned out fine.
I can't comment on bipolar though.
