Forums - Nintendo - I want No More Heroes, but not the US release because of rating

I'm not sure if the European version is competely bloodless, but at least the goriest bits are removed. People disappear in puffs of smoke like in Twilight Princess, rather than exploding in fountains of gore. Not sure about the language, but the latest rumours were saying it's toned down as well. Pretty surprising, since usually it's the Americans who're upset about strong language, not us Europeans.

I'll be getting the European version as soon as it launches on the last week of February, so feel free to ask me about this again then.

Btw, is there even a Wii Freeloader on the (black) market yet? I haven't heard of one, but even if it exists, there's a good chance a future software update will stop it from working. That's pretty much the only thing stopping me from importing Brawl. ;___;

I'm pleased to see the "M" rating is having the desired effect.

Do they seriously check your age in a gamestore when purchasing a game in the US?...

Yea they do, the last couple times I was at Gamestop I got carded which is completely lame.

OT:  There is no way I would want to play any other version of this game other than the US one.  Like Twesterm said it wouldn't be the same.  Once I can get some money I'm getting this bad boy.

It is like Desroko said, I am 29, not a child and could buy the game if I wanted, but I just do not want to hear cussing in my games or see the amount of gore. The game looks cool and would still be cool without those things. I guess I just will not play it. Oh well, I have tons of other stuff to keep me busy right now anyway.

I'm not knocking you on your beliefs in any way at all, in fact, more power to you for sticking to them so strongly, but No More Heroes is kind of all about the debauchery and gore.

Even without the gore and the foul language it's still very much an adult oriented game and judging from what I've seen from you, you wouldn't want to play this game. There are still heavy sexual themes and I'm not actually sure that the EU took out the foul language (could be wrong on that one).

And personally, without all the stuff the EU version took out, the game isn't the same and would get old pretty quickly as it would take away much of the style, but that's just my opinion.

Yeah... i gotta gree with you.  Well aside from the blood being different.  This game is all about Travis basically being some sort of virgin anime wanna be who's only interested in two things in life, sex and violence.

Though the way it's done is a way that makes it was a mature game is supposed to be... instead of what mature games actually are.

Can't you buy the Japanese version? That one is censored too as far as I know and you won't understand the swearing in Japanese!

Any chance the parental controls in the wii would automatically censor / tone-down the game... That is how they should make it work. Why have two different discs, just let the player decide, etc...

Are you insane!?

*Looks at your signature*

Oh, you sorta are.

@koffieboon: The Japanese version uses the same English voice acting we get in NA and possibly PAL/EU version, except with Japanese subtitles.

I am a PC gamer, and also have a NDS now, but without access to a Nintendo Wii until End of 2007.

Currently playing: Super Smash Brothers Brawl(Wii), Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer(DS), Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime (DS), WiiFit(Wii)

Games Recently Beaten: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King (Normal; Very Hard after the next DLCs become available)

1 word: RTFA

But which would be useless for imported Wii games, that were never supported in the first place.

Reality has a Nintendo bias.
