And the big difference as far as developers are concerned is that Sony and Unity have only announced tools and support. Developers will still need to buy a Unity 4 licence to develop Unity-driven games whereas developers get the licence for free with every dev kit. That, along with a free licence for Greenhill's MULTI IDE, free licence for Havok middleware and a free licence for Autodesk middleware is a huge incentive for indie developers to target the Wii U as a development platform. That's tens of thousands of pounds worth of software and middleware for nowt. Must have cost Nintendo a fortune.
