didn't someone make a post saying this is huge news when announced for ps4? Does that make it huge news for wii u?

It was announced for Wii U last year, so the news was big back then.

And the big difference as far as developers are concerned is that Sony and Unity have only announced tools and support. Developers will still need to buy a Unity 4 licence to develop Unity-driven games whereas developers get the licence for free with every dev kit. That, along with a free licence for Greenhill's MULTI IDE, free licence for Havok middleware and a free licence for Autodesk middleware is a huge incentive for indie developers to target the Wii U as a development platform. That's tens of thousands of pounds worth of software and middleware for nowt. Must have cost Nintendo a fortune.
