Did that guy just miss every single QTE or is it supposed to look like this?

Well, unless I am getting a game as game, it ends up being a form of escape alone, or a piece of fiction, where the designers of the game are attempting to tell a story.  At least I get to see the ending and see where everything went.

Around midnight you were able to reserve Bioshock: Infinite at a Redbox. With that said, I need to go pick up my copy and a donut at the Circle K.

I've been renting a lot of games recently from Redbox. Crysis 3, GoW:A, Tomb Raider, and now Bioshock. I tend to finish them after about week which is about $14. Not a bad deal to play through a $60 game.

Actually, I think I have done other posts regarding story driven games with linear narratives, and my issues with them.  So, it is easy for people to say "Didn't you do a post on this before"?  Well, it is a theme perhaps with me reposting.  I have really enjoyed the Bioshock games, and played through Bioshock one in 1 nearly fully day long sitting (like 18 hour marathon) non-stop.  I like the world and so on, and the direction.  But I am forced to be immensely cheap, and find out that I am at a place where I increasingly go to YouTube to watch endings and cut scenes to get the idea of the game.  I did this also with Mass Effect 3, and I played the first two.  I lose some things, but have piles of games left unplayed and find hitting YouTube ends up allowing me to see the stories and so on.

Pretty much now, in face of priorities, I end up having to cut corners and so on, and find out free on YouTube is superior to $60 new.  

I will likely get around to Redboxing stuff..  I think my drive to incompletion of stuff, and going through a lot happened when videogame rentals happened.  I would rent everything and play them, and not finish.  Then I got a decent paying job and kept buying stuff and not finishing.  Now it hit a place where I end up just watching cut scenes on YouTube.  I end up thinking maybe get something for replayability of some sort to it, like it has bots for deathmatch, or good multiplayer.  Having a bookcase full of games and no room also impacts here to, with myself still needing to finish Oblivion so I can keep to Skyrim.  I am also doing game design stuff, working on a book of 100 games I have designed (designing more exclusively for it).

And I say this about Bioshock, because the game really piques my interest.  I am a fan of the idea of rendering a philosophy as a game world and having it play out badly. 

He missed every single one on purpose. To this day still one of the funniest clips I have ever seen.

If you feel that watching someone else play a video game is just as good as playing it yourself then you may want to reevaluate gaming as your hobby. The story is many games is important, but it's not the most important part of real games. That's why I don't consider The Walking Dead a real game. It has a great story and it's an amazing experience, but like Heavy Rain and the upcoming Beyond it's not really a video game. Anyone that prefers them to games like Halo, Final Fantasy, Portal, etc. may not even be gamers.

Watching a Youtube video play-through of Bioshock Infinite should make you want to play it yourself not satisfy your gamer half.

they're all interactive and defined by player's choices and actions.  If you've played Heavy Rain and Walking Dead you should know this.  Heavy Rain has action sequences that, while they don't have death as a consequence, you do suffer if you don't pass them and yet the story continues and later events are effected by your failure.  Just because it's not all twitch and tradition doesn't make it a game.  It's just a new type of game.  Compeletly different from watching.

I do boardgaming every week an design tabletop games (tonight I am going out for poker for fun, and Wednesday, looking to get together to do some boardgames).  I will play these types of games over and over, and don't go out of my way to watch them on YouTube, unless it is to evaluate if they are worth picking up.  But, if it is heavily story driven, where the idea is to see the ending, and follow the plot, the amount of money saved by watching makes it worthwhile not to spend money.  Back in the day, I would of jumped on the Bioshock Infinite bandwagon.

In short I do gaming.  What is being reevaluated is a number of different forms of electronic entertainment, and whether I will pay for content in those areas.

There was a day when what is seen as adventure games today, were actually called "interactive fiction" or an adventure.  The former is pretty much fiction you influence over.  The later is like the holodeck on Star Trek: Next Generation.  Not sure anyone would call what they did on the holodeck a game, but the fact we have a "videogames industry", adventures and interactive fiction get lumped with other forms of play, including game games, that they are labelled as games.

Anyhow, if it is any consolation, I also end up going to themoviespoiler.com to go and look at how movies end up also, so I can get a feeling how things are.  Heck, I also don't bother to read any fiction either.  I do read non-fiction to get the information out, or philosophical/metaphysical pieces.
