Self-fulling prophercy.
3rd parties half assed their wares and expect to sell equal to Nintendo.

I don't follow any part of this conversation. The Wii U and 3DS are actually getting very good support from smaller and independent developers. The reason "Wii U haz no gaemz" is because it's not getting any of the major third-party multiplatform games in the first half of this year -- stuff like Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite, Metal Gear Rising, DMC, and Dead Space 3. Hmm... Square Enix, 2K Games, Konami, Capcom, EA... none of those are indie developers. In fact, those are some of the biggest publishers in the industry. Meanwhile, the Wii U is doing a better job of attracting indie developers than it is major publishers. With games like Runner 2 and Puddle already released this year, and lots more on the way (Shovel Knight was just confirmed recently, simultaneously with the 3DS version; no other console version has yet been confirmed). And 3DS? It's proving to be a big hit with companies like Level-5, WayForward, Renegade Kid, and (more recently) Bertil Hörberg, the developer of Gunman Clive, who was so impressed with sales of the 3DS version of his mobile game that his next title is being developed "from the ground up" for the 3DS. Bertil also got into a heated discussion with Fez creator Phil Fish in defense of Nintendo's policies towards indie developers, which are surprisingly supportive. Nintendo is growing on indie devs. It's already popular among smaller publishers. The companies who remain unimpressed are the massive ones. And this whole topic baffles me. 3DS has great third-party support, just not from the major Western publishers, who generally have little to no interest in the handheld market. But nearly every major Japanese publisher has taken an interest in the 3DS: Capcom (Monster Hunter, Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Mega Man), Square-Enix (Kingdom Hearts, FF: Theatrhythm, Dragon Quest, Bravely Default), Konami (Metal Gear Solid, Castlevania, PES), Namco-Bandai (Tales, Project X Zone, Naruto, RIIIIIIDGE RACER(!!!)), Sega (Rhythm Thief, Sonic Generations, Sonic Racing, Sonic & Mario). Activision and EA will never come around and start supporting a handheld. Ubisoft will keep trying, but not very hard. But the Japanese games will keep coming. |
Yep as I said..IF there's issues with the software coming to systems it's due to Nintendo. If there is no such issue then that's also because of Nintendo. Same goes for other companies.
This logic needless to say also applies to non-indie games.
OP's concerns and complaints are misplaced
