Forums - Nintendo - Bayonetta 2 Wii U exclusivity was only way it could happen, says Kamiya

I didn't care for the first one and don't own it and I'm not even interested in the genre. But even I don't really understand Sega's decision on this one. Normally taking a platform holder's money for an exclusive can be profitable. But what's strange about this is that Nintendo only gamers didn't play the first one and all the fans are pissed because they don't want to buy a Wii U. Unless Nintendo is paying enough that even if it doesn't sell Sega will still make money I don't see how pissing off the fans and giving the game to those who aren't fans is a good idea. Even if all the other publishers didn't want to buy in Sega could have sat on the IP for a couple years and published it when it needed to fill a gap in it's publishing scheduled.

who cares I personally will not miss it...

Why beat the dead horse when all that's left is a bloody pulp.

I find it funny how people still harbor some ridiculous hope that the game will be ported to other consoles.

Its just not possible.

I would not say that. SEGA is still the holder of the IP and we have no idea the agreement between SEGA, Nintendo & Plat. It definitely wont happen within a year of Wii U release

Seriously... SEGA cancelled the game. The development is beeing financed by Nintendo. Do you really think Nintendo would finance a game they wouldnt have an exclusivity deal for? Cmon...

If this thread is anything to go by, there are still some sour people.

Honestly the best thing Nintendo have done for the Wii U in my eyes. Save a potential classic from extinction.

if your that big of a fan the buy a wii u and get the game. Why are people getting mad at nintendo,if enough people bought the first game, then they probably would'nt have had 2 take this route. The fans should be happy a sequel is getting mad at all.

That's one of the many aspects of fanboyism. It's better to let a game/franchise vanish, no matter how beloved, than having it on the "wrong" platform. Most of the whiners aren't really Bayonetta/Platinum fans though, they're just sour about losing ammo for their list warz.

Im not arguing that Nintendo doesn't have exclusivity deal. Of course they do. What is the limit is the question. Tales of Vesperia and Star Ocean 4 were under a 2 year exclusive contract before they could be ported and they were funded by MS. How do you know something similar isnt in place. This is hurting 3rd party publisher and alot of people are forgetting that SEGA has the IP and they're getting something out of this

It would make a great deal of sense for Sega to release the first game for sale in the Wii U eShop, particularly when you consider the rumours of Nintendo adopting a Steam-esque deal regarding the split between Nintendo and third parties from sales. Rumour has it that they're giving a split of 70/30 so Sega should be all over bringing it to the eShop.
