Forums - Nintendo - Fez creator rants about the 3DS

I really don't get why people has been complaining over MH on the 3DS. It's not Capcom's job to sell the Vita, It's Sony's and they are doing a terrible job. Soul Sacrifice is like the only thing I have heard from them for the Vita, that could at least do anything. Look at the PSP, Sony had nothing in Japan for it, that was worthwhile to them.

even though i agree with the huge psp user base, its to early to tell. You dont how well MH4 will sell. It might do as good as the best 2 titles did on the psp. Just saying maybe you should determine that after summer.

No, I don't know how well MH4 will sell. But Capcom could have released another PSP title by now that would have broken records...

another psp would of been a great idea. Wats up wit Sony+Capcom? Is it just MH? Anyway MH4 might have a chance (small but still) to surpass the other MH games since its getting much more popular outside of Japan. Waiting on seeing how MH3U does on 3ds this year. If the west does over a mil, its kinda guaranteed tgat MH4 will outsell the others imo(just saying)

Something must have happened, because I was actually hoping for an actual sequal MH for PS3 or something but then it came to the Wii and I was like whoa? Still easily clocked 220+ hours though so it was good anyways, I really wish the Wii U version had better visuals but when you are busy killing monsters, you really don't notice them lol. It becomes like, "tail! tail!" or "head! head!" or "claws! claws!" etc lol..... I find it really strange how well the game is starting to do at the west though, it's almost like being on Nintendo is making it more popular in the west O_O;

my words exactly! Thats why i said MH4 might be the best selling MH in the franchise. Why? Well it only be on 3DS(wii/wiiu wont take sales out) and depending on the west, might pull close to 6mil sales WW (japan is guaranteed at least 3.5mil lifetime but i expect 4-5mil

Records aren't the only thing it would have broken. No way I'm holding my hand that way to play games.

Your Rayman Origins example is terrible, it was released for Vita at launch, 4 months before its 3DS release.

So you're implying all 3DS owners bought the game for Vita instead? Yeah, somehow I find that unlikely.

@bold
So you agree that single analog stick controls are troublesome? Do you own a Vita or a 3DS?

Wat i dont understand is why people cant take out $20 extra for the CPP? I mean 1st of all the 3DS is more fit with just 1 anolog(even though i wish it had 2 to begin with) and while some games scream a second anolog like RE revelations and MH3U(both work good without 2nd analog either way) why cant they just buy a CPP? Complaints its more $$ but rather have it on Vita?

Well you can get 3 CPP with a 3DS and it'll be cheaper than a vita cuz you'll need to get a memory card anyway. Some people will agree with this guy only cuz MH3U is not on the platform they want. Its too bad, Get both Handhelds and if not dont complain.

I want Gravity Rush and One Piece Warriors 2. You dont hear me saying it'll be better on 3DS cuz of 2 screens. Its my problem i dont own a vita yet. Plain and Simple

It's not a price problem. It's a design problem. Some games require a 2nd analog and the CPP is Nintendo admitting to a flaw in the 3DS design.
The whole point this guy made is how they are putting a game on a platform that doesn't even make sense purely for profit. It's obvious that console-style games aren't a very good fit for the 3DS and that's what Monster Hunter is. A console-style game. Vita is perfect for console style games. Some keep bashing the Vita calling it a PS3 port machine but that's actually one of its advantages IMO.

Most games don't need the analog. It only hurts MH3 in underwater fights, and MH4 won't have any.

@ the platform not making sense for profit, how so? The Vita hasn't been selling, and they already made a deal with Nintendo. Vita exclusive would've been a disaster.

As for where the game should be - the games should be where they sell the best, that's how the industry works. Otherwise, there's no sense in having any home consoles at all, because they're all inferior to PC's. Just listen to the elitist PC crowd who whine about how console games have ruined gaming.

The Monter Hunter games sold millions on PSP. There's a reason for that. It's because the PSP doesn't have Pokemon or Mario. Monster Hunter pretty much had the PSP all to itself. Monster Hunter on the 3DS will have trouble reaching the same success as the PSP since it has a lot more competition. This is why you see 3rd party games selling better on Vita or PSP instead of DS or 3DS.

Yes, the games should be where they sell best and for Monster Hunter that should be the PSP or Vita. Capcom has to build a fanbase for the franchise on the 3DS when there is already one on the PSP. If they had made a Monster Hunter game for Vita, it would have been a smooth transition. But Nintendo stepped in and pulled a Microsoft. Now look at the Japanese market. Look how dreadful those sales are across the board....3DS isn't picking up the slack for the Vita.  This may sound crazy but the lack of Monster Hunter on the Vita due to some Nintendo/Capcom deal has hurt the games industry in Japan.

VG, I don't how you work yourself into these Glen Beck like posts lol. Yes, it sold millions on PSP, but it so did also on Wii. It sold like shit on the Sony home consoles, so not seeing your point actually other the fact you want Monster Hunter on Vita because you think it save the Vita. The fact this is a business, and Capcom probably made a business calculation seeing that the 3DS install base is over 6 times the Vita's. I3rd party games sell better on 3DS than Vita, example RE:Revelations has sold over 700,000 and that's more than ever Vita game except Uncharted I think. Pulling a Mircosoft? Please don't use that tited Sony fan nonsense people keep yelling about Microsoft buying exclusives. Every company, including Nintendo with thier army of super selling exclusives, enters into deals to bring software to their consoles, its nothing new. Its up to the developer whether or not their game will be exclusive or to a platform. Sony tries to buy exclusives too so don't act like they don't.

Who the hell is Glen Beck?
Monster Hunter sold "like shit" on Sony home consoles because it didn't become the juggernaut it is until the PSP releases. The Wii game released after Monster Hunter exploded in popularity. 3rd Party games DO NOT sell better on 3DS. Looking at games that have released on both 3DS/Vita you see that some have actually sold better on Vita despite the much lower install base.

A perfect example is Rayman Origins.
0.03m on 3DS
0.31m on Vita

Fifa Soccer 13
0.13m on 3DS
0.18m on Vita

3rd party games sell exponentially better on Vita despite that MUCH MUCH lower install base. That is reason enough for a game like Monster Hunter to be on Vita. Not only because the fanbase is there, but because it will sell more.

Do you really beleive what you say?

Yes and I would love for you to refute my clams. These 2 games are perefect examples of 3rd party games selling better on the Vita. If you know of a 3rd party game that sold better on 3DS than Vita, feel free to point it out.

EDIT: Looking back I found some games that performed better on 3DS.
Lego Batman 2
3DS = 0.32m
Vita = 0.14m

Lego Lord of The Rings
3DS = 0.13m
Vita = 0.10m

Lego Harry Potter
3DS = 0.24m
Vita = 0.07

So yeah some 3rd party games do perform better on 3DS but they're not exactly chart toppers. Again, looking at the install bases of these consoles, the 3DS versions have lots of room for improvement. The abysmal Vita sales fo these games aren't surprising though.

I'm implying that nobody cared about Origins by the time summer rolled around, because Legends was already confirmed, supposedly for less than 6 months later.

If you knew anything at all about the 3DS, you'd know that the camera controls aren't a problem for Monster Hunter. But you don't know anything about the 3DS, because every time someone says something positive about it, you cover your ears and mutter horrible things about it under your breath. Single analogue stick controls are not troublesome if they aren't necessary. MH3G has provided alternative control methods not possible on PSP.

Really? If the game is anything like the one on PSP, then yes camera controls will be an issue. I heard people in this very thread say that underwater controls are troublesome. Are you calling them liars?

If camera contorls really weren't an issue, that CCP wouldn't be recommended.

Underwater camera gave me an issue at first. Then I reversed the axes, and everything fell into place. I haven't had any problems at all with the camera since then. So yeah, I'm calling bullshit.

The game does NOT control like the PSP version and the CCP is NOT necessary. You clearly don't know anything about the game. L-button centers the camera. Touch screen has a D-pad. That's all you need. It controls great. No claw required.

just buy a circle pad pro and problem SOLVED! If anybody wants better controls just go buy it
