Most JRPG Fans probably haven't played. 'Cause, you know, it's on the 360. (Not known for it's JRPG's or fans of JRPG's.)

The werid thing is the 360 isn't known for its JRPG fanbase yet Lost Odyssey achieved stronger sales than most JRPGs this gen. Final Fantasy aside, JRPGs haven't sold great on PS3 yet people think that platform has a very strong JRPG fanbase. Go figure!

I think people who like talk about JRPGs on the web just aren't 360 fans. If it were a PS3 game, it would have received a lot more attention. Oh well! One of the best JRPGs I ever played. Perhaps MS should port it to the PC.

how is 800k strong for 5 years on the market?

I said "stronger," not "strong." That's like changing "better" to "best."

Go look at JRPG sales for this gen, you'll see many struggle to achieve 800K. This game also had the handicap of being released on a platform with a small Japanese userbase.

i know the difference, just don't think stronger was the right term, slightly less terrible would hve been better

neither did you, considering you left out handhelds

plus games like

kingdom Hearts HD, finalfantasy X & X2 HD, tales of xillia, tales of xillia 2, ni no kuni will surely outsell it, meaning most console jrgpg's did/will pass it

vesperia would have to, if namco relesed it in the west, tales of graces f will most likely out leg it also.

Sorry for Lost Odyssey, but Microsoft tried to steal Star Ocean 4 and Tales of from us. I've been hating them from the bottom of my heart since this very moment. Pilferers don't deserve money.

This is exactly what I'm talking about right here. I love it when people make this ludicrous argument. It proves my point exactly. If someone truly held this belief they'd have to hate Sony as well. Since they began the practice to begin with. You can't "steal" third party software. Star Ocean originated on the Super Famicom BTW.

I said most JRPGs, so what I said is still accurate.

Give up already. I chose my words pretty carefully to avoid people like you.

Ok, im gonna be honest. The game is good. It feels like the true sucessor to Final Fantasy and fills those shoes pretty well, but i felt it overstayed its welcome. I got to the 4th disc, but i didnt bother to finish it. The combat system wasnt tuned the way i like it, and it was a bit restrictive with your options at times. Definitly a decent game. I would buy a sequal if it came out, but i wont die on the spot if it doesnt happen.

Personally i found tales of Vesperia to be the best JRPG in the 360 and Star Ocean TLH second.

Because it's on the 360, and most JRPG fans prefer Sony and Nintendo systems.

Incorrect. Most JRPG "fans" are fanboys. Real fans of the genre, follow the genre. When Lost Odyssey launched on 360, it had the most JRPGs available. I know because I actually looked at the 360 release schedule before it launched. I saw the amount of JRPGs on the docket and bought one. Most JRPG "fans" ran out and bought PS3s and then trolled any JRPG title released on 360. Lost Odyssey included. It really got annoying. You'd go into a thread to discuss the game and there were a bunch of JRPG "fans" complaining about the game not being on PS3. It was pathetic.

Lost Odyssey was and is exceptional. Of course, if you tried to discuss after it's release. You got bombarded by these supposed JRPG fans that hadn't played the game telling you otherwise. These alleged fans also praised the greatnes of FFXIII even though it wasn't out. That was rather ironic given the way things turned out with that game.

Okay, mini-rant over. Sorry guys. Continue on. Maybe we can see a sequel to Lost Odyssey someday. Sakaguchi still has his magic. Lord knows Final Fantasy could use him again.

Honestly you kind of proved my point. Unless you were just saying "incorrect" to the fan/fanboy distinction. However I'm not sure if that's entirely true. Because JRPGs haven't been very common with MS systems, but have with Nintendo and Sony ones, there's going to be a lot of people conditioned to them and only want to buy JRPGs on Nintendo and Sony systems. Sometimes it even extends to specific games -- for example, in Japan, people like playing Tales games on Sony systems more than Nintendo/MS ones. People are just more comfortable and expect certain games on certain platforms because that's what they're used to. Can you call them fanboys for that? I don't know.

A JRPG fan  would have bought a 360 because lets be honest here, for the bulk of the last generation that's where the console JRPGs were. This wasn't a PSP and DS situation in which you could look at either platform for a JRPG fix. The Wii and PS3 had slim pickings when it came to JRPGs. So if you didn't buy a 360 when it was practically the sole source for JRPGs. Don't claim to be a JRPG fan.

oh please, how much Jrpgs are coming out for 360 this year? how about last year? year before that? Lets not act like 360 dominates that market. They havent in a while if ever, that honor goes to PSP and DS. And like you said yourself if you have either of those (and looking at sales, especially in Japan) alot of people have those. So that where you would get your JRPG fix and frankly a good amonut of those JRPGs ended up getting ported anyway.. I think LO and BD are the only actuall exclusives left
